Is anyone playing any sort of mud game?

opinion : If members were playing mud, everyone could play, even those on slow connection, and no good graphics cards.

I've also been thinking the same thing, one1ai. The problem I see is that perhaps MUDs are too addictive to set Aspies loose on. It swallowed 3 years of my life. A mud would be quite useful, though. Groups of people levelling, many different modes of communication, best of all ACTIONS/socials. Even stuff like marriage and stuff. I was married on my MUD. We're still really good friends. She's gonna divorce me though, cause I no longer play. But there's a ton of stuff like that that'd be great for Aspies, probably.

I play on MUSH/MOOs based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series as well as her Crystal Singer Trilogy. I like them, not only because it's based on my favorite author but at times the interaction and all is fun.

I played NannyMUD(a sort of mud) with students from Linkoping Sweden, and from different countries too.

danlo: When you say groups, do you mean like making a 'party' and attacking monsters together?

MishLuvsHer2Boys: Do you have any ip address, or ports so I can connect to the place/places where you play?

Well unless you're familiar with the novels and such, I wouldn't suggest really getting into themed MUSHes I play on. It's best to read the books first and then explore them.

Ok, does anyone else here play on the mush you play on? How is the game, is it about doing quests, which have to do with the storyline?

Nope, noone that I know on here plays on the MUSHes I do... no it's not about quests or such like that, it's about freeform roleplay poses centered around the universe and timelines presented in the novels written by the author.

So, maybe you mean, that I can't "role play" well, to 'fit in'?

It's just some of the games are very very picky about canon and issues related to the books and unless you've read the books, some of the people on them will pick you to pieces and alienate you. I've read the books since I was 14, and been playing the games for 8 yrs now. And they are often very picky on grammar, spelling, etc. One mush I play on based on the crystal singer trilogy is very very rp-intensive, requires a lot of time and also they are picky about grammar and spelling. In some ways its a cross between freeform/plot-based RP. I'd never suggest jumping into one of the themed games based on books unless you read the books anyways, it ends up usually in a lot of confusion and all for the player and not everyone will be 'friendly' enough to help out.

This is just an example of how picky some players out there get in dealing with RPing on these games, especially Pern:

I used to play on a MUD created by an aspie called DemonRealms (tis gone though). I actually became quite strong, becoming a Greater Demon of Chaos whilst wearing some nice Demonic and Angelic armors. I miss it so much.

PlatypusMan : Does this mud still exist, or do you mean that DemonRealms is gone?

There's a "Aarabela/Lankhmar/ASCII-Arts." thread on general discussion.

Just as a note.

Do you play any mud games at the current moment?

Ok, so maybe it's better if there is a more graphical world to play on. Like ragnarok online.

I'll list some minimum system specs, for anyone interested in Ragnarok Online:

The OS, it says must be Windows 98se/me/2000/XP. That's a pity because even linux and MacOS players could play mud/mush with each other.
CPU Pentium - 500 or equivalent
RAM 128M¡è(I didn't understand why they put "¡è", does it mean greater than maybe?)
VGA DirectX 3D Support, VGA Card with 8 MB
SOUND DirectSound support(I have no clue why they list this)
Other DirectX 8.0¡è("¡è" made no sense to me)

Oh that's so true, I've been playing on Mushes/Moos for 8 yrs now. Yes it's very addictive and continues to be for me.

I'm reviving this thread using really evil chaos magic from the Elric universe, since somebody reminded me about MUDs and if I play any. No I don't play any. That's why I revived this thread, to say...just that :)...and to revive it so that anybody interested can post your MUD experiences :D
