There are many people with bad manners online, as in every community. You'll never know who you'll face and where. I'll admit it's frustrating to be matched with an annoying player, and I understand that.
However, as unfair as it is, I think sometimes it's best to just leave the match and let it go, instead of getting worked up over a misunderstanding or being a subject of trolling. As long as you feel good about what you're doing, there's no reason for surrounding yourself with negativity.
I don't think getting frustrated and starting an argument over a 5 minute quest is good for anyone's health.

The problem is that many games take WAY longer than 5 minutes; I think it's a huge part of the reason behind the toxicity of a game like Dota 2, where the matches can take like 45 minutes. And where you're heavily penalized if you leave (because having someone on your team leave *really* hurts your chances of winning, so heavy penalties are given to prevent this).

As opposed to something like Splatoon, where a match is like 3 minutes long; if it's frustrating, it's only frustrating for a very short time, and then you can leave that particular lobby and find another, and probably get a better match.

But of course, some people dont need ANY reason to be jerks and just are that way from the very moment they jump into a match. Exasperated sigh.

I get you. You are right in that many games take a lot of time when completing quests/matches and you're often heavily penalized for quitting. It's infuriating to say the least.

Often people will act however they like regardless of what you do or say. They surely have their reasons (though they are not necessarily justified). The only person you control is yourself.

My point is you shouldn't let things get to you. If someone does something you disagree with, and you feel you did nothing wrong to deserve it, I see no reason to feel bad about it. It's their issue. You shouldn't punish yourself for their stupidity and do things that make you feel good. If playing with someone makes you uncomfortable, there's no reason to continue. Things should be kept in proportion: Sometimes spending time with a jerk for 45 minutes just isn't worth that additional piece of loot.

But anyways, this is just my opinion. You're more than welcome to share yours :D .

I used to play League of Legends and I mained as a support, So that's what I'd try to do. But then our carry would start fussing at me in some matches whenever I start going for the minions and not following them when they wanted to rush to the tower, which is stupid because we need our minions to serve as tower fodder while we hit it. And that's not even getting into those instances where I'd accidentally kill one of the opposing players when I was only try to heal myself or silence them. Wasn't as much of an issue if I was playing supports like Karma or Braum, but more often than not I played as Soraka, and that alone pissed some people off. Not to mention that people will criticize my preferred build for certain characters/roles just because it's not meta or something. Who cares if that's what works for my play style? Oh, and that community as a whole is just terrible.

Needless to say, there's a reason I don't play LoL anymore. Just reminds me of why I prefer to solo in most online games I play. At least with Splatoon I can still try to do my own thing while helping my team and not have to hear their complaints if I'm sucking...
