Well you don’t want the game to accidentally become unplayable, but still give the choice to kill people if you wish in how you want to play. Perhaps I forgot to add that after you commit a crime guard will then ask you to turn yourself in, if you refuse this they will kill you, so committing mass murder may be more difficult than you might make it sound unless you are pretty beefed up.

You are also making think of this clip from Cracked.

I recently got fallout 4 but I've only played it once *sad face*. For games like this I need a whole entire day to play it but I got a job so no time anymore. I used to play Skyrim a lot though. It's probably one of my favourite games maybe after fable 2. I always play as either a dark elf or a high elf. I got turned into a vampire though and it became so hard to play because everywhere I went people were trying to kill me haha.

SKYRIM IS SO DAMN GOOD

I will say... first mod that goes on Skyrim is SkyUI. Skyrim has one of the worst interfaces I've ever seen in a computer game. It does require SKSE, but most mod setups eventually will and it's not hard to set up.

In Morrowind you actually could break questlines (including the main quest) by killing NPCs. It would tell you when you'd done so, so that you could choose to load a new save. There was even a "back door" way to get the main quest rolling again (maybe). I appreciated that the game respected the player's freedom and assumed some level of intelligence. Bethesda's games don't do this anymore; they railroad the player pretty heavily, are poorly-paced and generally treat you like a moron. It makes me sad.

Huge fan of fallout right here. I have played fallout 3, new vegas and most recently fallout 4. They are all great games and I enjoy playing them loads. I do enjoy playing skyrim as well :)

Bought Skyrim a couple years ago while it was on sale, basically wanted to see what the hype was about :) The furthest I've gotten with one character was to the embassy (I forget what the name of it is, I think it's the elfin empire). My character was a warrior, loosely based on a character from a story I'd written. Basically she had to sneak through the embassy to get some papers, if I remember right.

I've also used SkyUI due to the fact that the game was basically made for consoles. I don't have a console, just a PC :)

I've tried to make a custom follower in Skyrim, too, but when my computer crashed I lost most of the sound files :(

Now, is it worth doing my first playthrough completely vanilla and installing mods later, or are mods essential for the experience?

I got to try Skyrim at my friend's house once, and was completely underwhelmed. I can only assume it requires mods to be playable.

Skyrim is a game that benefits from texture packs and graphic enhancements. I use the 4K texture packs and they look great, Skyrim really benefits from a higher resolution.

Watch videos from the YouTube poster Gopher first, you can easily tank your VRAM if you install many mods.

Having recently installed Grand Theft Auto V, I've learned to start watching my VRAM usage. Interestingly, the in-game meter isn't at all accurate; if I went by the ingame meter, I wouldn't have enough VRAM to do DX10 720p with the population variety slider turned all the way up. Turns out I can actually do 1080p with the slider turned all the way up, with VRAM to spare. I can thank MSI Afterburner for helping me discover this.

GTA V benefits from population variety and density, Watchdogs and other Ubisoft titles just can't deliver the same immersive experience as Rockstar can. It really adds a lot to the game, you will notice a huge difference.

You will have to watch fraps to see if you experience any framerate drops or in game VRAM spikes in populated areas.

I have all three of the sliders in that section of the options turned up to max, and things run just fine. I honestly had no idea how powerful my GPU was until I installed GTA V, and I was even considering upgrading it for a while or switching to Nvidia. Turns out I probably don't need to, but getting a beefier CPU (which would also necessitate changing motherboards) might help in some games. I already tried the overclocking thing, and frankly, the Athlon 860k isn't great for it. Best overclocking gains I ever got from a CPU was with my E6300 Wolfdale Pentium Dual Core. I cranked that baby from 2.8GHz all the way to 4Ghz, and got a pretty healthy OC on my ram too. Stability wasn't perfect, but it was surprisingly good for PS2 emulation.

Most games don't use very much CPU, the GPU should really handle any workload, unless it's GTA IV.

I generally like playing on console better, except I can't make custom textures like a Personalized Emperor Robe. It's fun to play around like the emperor, Expect it is easy to get killed I'm a Archer Mage, and also, a Sneaky one. (Which is required for it, I got my sneak skill maxed without much. I've completed The Thief side quest, Mage side quest, and the Assassin side quest.. I started the other ones.. I done the rebel one, but only because It was kind of forced on you, I think that I should be king though. I'm like screw Ulfric Stormcloak. More like Pieplup Napoleon.

I've played all fables, but they get boring after you max out your stats, and buy every building in the game. Also, are the King of the world. And Perhaps the Emperor.

The thief quests can take a surprisingly long time to complete if you wanted to bring the guild back to its former glory, where you have to complete a certain amount of thief quests in each major city. I ended up creating a thief character specifically to do it where I also aimed to collect all of the Unusual gems (also part of the thieves guild) so that I could get the active effect of making more precious stones appear. My character managed to get 100,000 gold for the achievement and then buy pretty much all of the houses part of the DLC. I considered that character a king of thieves.

I tend to create different characters for going for the different guilds and such.

PCSX2 and Dolphin benefit greatly from stronger CPUs. So does Dwarf Fortress, from what I've heard.

Well yeah, emulators definitely use up CPU. Dwarf Fortress, though? I've never played it, but it doesn't look like a very beefy game.

I am squeezing some enjoyment out of TES: Daggerfall. The constant crashes and general bugginess really bring down the experience, but the big mazes keep drawing me back in for some more skeleton-smashing, grave-robbing, rat stomping madness.

It has primitive text-based graphics, yes, BUT it calculates all sorts of crazy physics and whatnot in real time, so that's why the graphics have to take a backseat from what I can gather.

I highly recommend this mod to anyone that is playing the PC version, the celtic music deeply enhances the immersion of the game.
