Does this include bad installments? I was gushing about the 'Monkey Island' series the other day and it just dawned on me how awful the fourth entry 'Escape from Monkey Island' was. The complete tonal shift from the dry-humored, pirate-themed first three games into a flashy, wholly anachronistic environment was one of the worst offenses, but downplaying the main characters of the previous games in favor of far less interesting new ones and, worst yet, basing the last act of the game around an awful combat system in a game series which is perhaps the quintessential example of point-and-click adventure games were colossal missteps.

What other examples are there of cherished game series who have that one bad sequel which just doesn't fit with the others?

I remember Smackdown 2: Know Your Role for the PS1. It had really long load times of up to no more than 45 seconds, and it was even worse during the season mode. You already had to go through load screens just to do a show (Raw, Smackdown, PPVs) and at least once per show, this 10-15 second event would randomly occur and often had nothing to do with the matches on the cards and you had no control over it or anything that happens in the event. The loading screen would appear at both, the beginning and end of these little events.

WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw 2008 had the worst Season Mode ever.

AI party members or allies. In any game. ANY GAME.

I dont know why developers keep using these as a major design element in so many games, when AI as a whole is very NOT advanced right now and probably wont be for quite awhile. I still remember my brief time with Kingdom Hearts when that first came out, where I'd shout at the screen when my idiot teammates would see like, a butterfly or something, and spray 10000 death-rays at it, using all of their mana in one go. Stuff like THAT. Drives me up the wall. As a rule I end up just never, ever touching any game that uses this idea.

Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies - The DLC case. It's no surprise to any fan of the Ace Attorney series that the police are exaggeratedly bad at their job, but this case just plain insults them. The case is that a whale is thought to have killed its trainer, and as such the case isn't going to trial. They even say an autopsy report is unecessary since it's 'obvious that the whale killed the trainer'.

The police ALWAYS do an autopsy report on a human corpse, and they NEVER judge anything by first looks, no matter how 'obvious' it may be. The point of an investigation is to find the truth, not just say 'well, looks like this happened. Good enough for me.' Any killer in their right mind would disguise a crime scene as something else, like, for example, an accidental death.

And of course, when the case finally IS sent to trial, what do they find? Cause of death was falling, not orca attack.

Bit of a rant there, but yeah, that case is just the one case I can't like in the Ace Attorney series for the very reason that they take the police incompetency thing way too far, to the point that the police just aren't even TRYING to do their jobs at that point.

Operation Racoon City would've been great if the AI actually contained the 'Intelligence' part.

Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell...vehicle challenges. We have super powers that completely overshadow vehicles to the point they become obsolete, so why have challenges for travelling a certain distance in a vehicle? At least in Gat Out of Hell it's not a bad as the ridiculous alien vehicle distance challenge ( though I still needed to screw around after doing everything in SR4 to hit the 40 hour mark.... )

All of the escort missions in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. Thank goodness that they usually aren't mandatory, but when the reward for completing the mission is a rare or excellent item... Worse than that is Dark Crater. There's high level Pokemon that can defeat you easily, more than 30 floors, it's dark so you can barely see where you are going, only you and your partner are allowed, so if you are a Grass Type, you're pretty much done for, and you have to bring Creselia with you.
The fact that you have to do Chocobo racing in FFVII just to get Omnislash seems ridiculous.

That reminded me of this horrible stable(group) in the WWE called Revolution with Randy Orton as the leader and Cody Rhodes and Ted DeBiase as his followers(lackeys).

What annoyed me was how they made it look like Randy Orton ALWAYS needed their help just to win a match.

I am so glad they disbanded!

Oh you mean The Legacy? Yeah that stable was foul, glad a Triple Threat at Wrestlemania 26 I think?

Evolution consist of Ric Flair,Randy Orton, Triple H and Batista. I loved that stable though The Four Horsemen will always be legendary and my all time stable.

I didn't like the train sequence in Uncharted 2.

Mostly because I didn't like all the climbing and shooting while dodging train signals and what not.

Also, while I love Borderlands : The Presequel, I highly loathe The Veins of Helios map.
I thought it was just unnecessary work having to navigate it.

That part from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door where you have have to find Gold Bob and General White, that part was a pain in the ass.

The Mother Brain fight and escape sequence in Metroid Zero Mission was so horrible to complete that I found a way around having to play it over again.
