To be totally fair though, consoles do have one massive advantage over PCs: no Windows. There's a general lack of random failure or stupidity when using a console. I like that the damn things JUST FREAKING WORK. When I use my Wii U, I know it'll just do whatever I tell it. Wheras the PC... well, everyone knows how Windows is. Sometimes it seems like it's sitting there thinking about wether or not it'll bother to follow whatever command was given to it, as opposed to just doing it.
Ill give you that. Windows sucks. But since computers were and are my special interest i usually know what to do to fix the damn thing^^ But to be COMPLETELY fair console systems f**k up too. XBox One has just a crippled version of windows 10 running, to play newer games you need system updates instead of driver updates, software failures DO happen (a friends PS3 would hang up in menu sometimes randomly) and because everything is so cramped up inside these boxes with bad ventilation things like RROD/YLOD happen. I mean what the f**k? Literally self desoldering chips! This happens less on lower performance console like nintendos offerings, but i like to exclude nintendo out of this because they are so different to the mainstream console systems that i think they should be viewed at on their own. They also have a very different target audience...

Computers are my special interest, too. I think the main thing that makes PCs suck for gaming is that they are so diverse. You have a wide range of specs like CPU and RAM, and hundreds of different makes and models of graphics cards supporting various capabilities. On top of that, there are different versions of Windows, and some configurations can cause games to mess up. With consoles, you only have about 3 major vendors, and you know exactly what hardware and software platform the game will run on ahead of time, so you can take better advantage of the hardware and there are no issues with graphics card incompatibility, driver updates, and so on. What makes consoles suck is that they are a closed platform. Aside from exploiting vulnerabilities to run homebrew software, you can't just make your own indie game and hand it out to people and let them play it, like you can do on PCs. You have to become a "licensed developer" to do that, which costs money and excludes amateur programmers.
I do think hardware quality varies between consoles, too. I can't seem to recall anyone I know having issues with a Nintendo console, yet my cousin's old PlayStation 2 can no longer read disks and his Xbox 360 had to get replaced due to the red ring of death problem. This is just from my experience, though. Perhaps someone else has a troublesome Nintendo console.
