Yeah, I got kind of offended at this. Not because they're saying gamers are fat and mental, but because they're making that seem like a bad thing.

I posted my opinion on it.

LOL, yeah, no doubt.
I'm all these things and PROUD.
(Well, maybe not proud of the fat, but definitely of the mental)

Hey, I don't think being fat is all that bad. :P Sure you have some health problems, but you also get health problems from smoking, being in the sun too long, or even taking perscription medication. And trust me, obese people are just as capable of attracting potential boyfriends and girlfriends as skinny people. I know this for a fact, I've had several overweight relatives who go on dates regularly. They're not sitting home hating themselves because skinny people tell them they're ugly and no one will love them. Hell my Mom tries to do that to me, but I just ignore her and I'm perfectly happy with myself, and so are my friends and relatives. :P

Not 30 yet, but, you know, everyone reaches 35 at some point (hopefully), not fat, mental issues ? Yeah, dealing with people. So ? And, most importnat, who cares ? Gaming is fun, gaming is so many good things, statistics are just plain boring instead.

This crap of research is really boring, pointless, many software houses are shutting down recently, please, stop wasting money with these "surveys" and help those who are capable of creating something beautiful instead.

I will most certainly still be playing videogames when I am 30, though I somewhat doubt I will be obese.

Yeah, and as we all know America is full of good-looking 20 year olds with thin bodies and perfect mental health right? Must be so horrible to not be all those things at once, cause then you're "Not American". :P

That's what my friend said, "Isn't most of America overweight?"

Not just overweight, but most Americans suffer from some sort of mental problem. Like Aspergers, Neurosis, Narcsassism, Sociopathy, ADHD, Histrionic personality disorder, Anorexia, Compulsive Overeating, etc. I can name at least 1 person for each of those that I know personally.

In fact, mental problems aren't just a US thing, I'm sure every person on the planet suffers from some kind of mental condition, but in the US we focus so much on the US Citizens with mental problems just like we focus on the Americans who are overweight, come from broken homes, and smoke cigarettes. :?

Chicken before the egg. Gaming probably just offers refuge to those who are isolated, overweight and eccentric to begin with.

I was on WOW for a year. Even for an 8-foot blue Mage with face tentacles and a tail, most people found me a bit eccentric for them.

Yeah, this is one of those, "Blame games" type of thing because many cannot accept personal responsibility. Same thing happened in the 70s with D&D, "Its of the devil, so its creating murderers, etc." And lets not forget the Columbine crap, "These kids were violent for playing games like DOOM."

As my brother bluntly put it, "Why is it when [something goes wrong], the first thing people do is try to get money rather than mourn . . ."

If anything, the problem is responsibility . . . am I overweight, yes; am I 35, 7 years shy actually; am I mental, no more so than over 90% of this planet's human population. Do I take responsibility for my situation? Yes, because I chose most it . . . no one else. Will I do anything to change this? Maybe, maybe not . . . I dont really care what those outside my interests say.

I am 30, with mental problems, overweight - and a major gamer.

However, I am considerably less overweight than what I used to be - because I joined the Y and started doing two cardio workouts a day (and weights three days a week), 40 lbs I lost since I started that.

As far as my mental problems go, I am working on them.

But I will always be a gamer. The first game that got me hooked was Final Fantasy VII, and I've walked the road of a gamer ever since then.
