I'm going to leave the warcraft guild I love tonight because the guild master's ego won't let him accept that someone else could be better at leading raids than him. I'm going to be leaving with the raid leder when the guild master expells him from the guild and I expect that at least one or two others who are fed up with the guild master's behaviour are likely to go too. We're going to a friend's guid - one that my current guild raids with regularly. I'm just fed up with the guild master who knows that I am a close friend of the raid leader using me as a conduit for his communications when the raid leader wants to be left alone and as a sort of postbox for his complaints. Yes, the raid leader did tell someone to f**k off when they were sarcastic at him for complaining about a display of careless and thoughtless tanking in a 5-man Heroic, but using it as an excuse to throw someone out of a guild to boost your ego is just childish.
This is all making me very stressed and I don't want to have a shut down at work. I'm sitting at my desk rocking and getting agitated and I can't concentrate and I'm stimming involuntarily (I hand flap and generally fidget very badly).
I wish our guild leader hadn't forgotten it's all a game because so many people are losing out because of his ego. :wall:

No need to be sorry for your rant. I completely understand. I played WoW for years and experienced many circumstances of the social atmosphere interfering with the fun of the game. In particular when it came to raiding. I hope that you enjoy your new guild a lot more. It is a game, and therefore it should be fun to play, not work or stress to play. :)

Ah, WoW guild drama. I do not miss it.

As someone who went from Guild A to Guild B, back to Guild A, then to Guild C, back to Guild B, etc. I can tell you it's best to choose the people you like (few as they may be be) over a guild, even if you've been part of the guild for a long time.

And this is one of the reasons I don't do raids. I get enough egotists in real life, I don't need them in my games too.

(The other big reason, of course, is that no matter what I do, someone is guaranteed to complain that I "don't know how to play my class." Really, big shot? If you know how to play a [hunter/paladin/mage/warlock] so well, why aren't you doing so, instead of strutting around in your [warrior/death knight] plate armor complaining about people in leather or cloth not taking the hits?)

I've never done a raid, I've done very few dungeons, and avoid teaming except against the Headless Horseman. I was once in a guild but I didn't properly understand the widely accepted purpose of the guild bank. I kinda figured if you put stuff in it, you didn't want it. Apparently selling a couple of green items is verboten. Hey, I only sold three, maybe, and they were converted to Runecloth to gain Undercity rep so I wouldn't have to ride a chicken. The guild leader was willing to let it go (now that I was clear on them not wanting people to do that, even though no one said so ever, anywhere, until I did it. Typical.) but I got the impression people were telling tales behind my back when someone came online one night and started insulting me, so I left. I don't need the stupidity. People are hard enough to deal with in person. I've gotten many guild invitations. I turn them down flat. Someone said once I'd go further with a guild. Go further where? It's light and shadow, a world that dies perhaps never to rise again at the press of a button, and you can only get to 80 as of now so who cares? If I start gathering what little is left to gain faster, I'll have less to do when I decide to play.

The sad truth is, it's a place where people can be just as abrasive as they want without all the usual consequences, and there are some who feel free to be even more obnoxious than I assume they are in life. It's a shame to think that it's people who ruin the fun.

Been there, done that my friend. I call this tendency "Elitism" because the individuals think that just because theyre max level and have full gear sets means they are the World's gift to Warcraft. Pretty much happens in any form of online game, especially in the competitive branches (online arenas, etc). These individuals just lose all touch with reality and there's not a whole lot you can do about it save reminding them that, "This is a game, and whatever happens here has no impact whatsoever in reality. No one in the world cares who you are, and no body really has a reason to . . . and if you go around ostracizing everyone, you will truly be alone." Stick with your friend and perhaps on day the guild leader will apologize (slim chance, but worth the thought :D ).

Ack, well I did leave, as the Guild leader kicked the Raid leader out on Friday night without even speaking to him. He kicked another guild member out the next day for very little reason and I ended up trying to look after him a bit because he's just 17 and got upset at being kicked out for saying that he was upset that no-one talked to him.

I made sure I will keep raiding with the guild because I have so many friends there, but I like the very small guild I've joined - there's no stress :)

I'm worried about the raid leader though - he's really depressed about some stuff in his personal life and being kicked out was the last thing he needed. He's a good friend of mine and I wish there was something I could do.

The guild leader wasn't very nice to me on Saturday, but I managed to talk to him and get him to understand that I didn't leave because I thought the raid leader was right for swearing, I just felt that he needed a friend to fight his corner.

This is why I go full-troll in most MMOs.

Being nice gets you whined at, being mean and greedy gets you whined at + more money.

This. I don't play MMOs for this reason. Only multi games I play are deathmatch type, and even then I prefer bots because I know they aren't cheating.

Ah, but the fun part is learning how to beat the cheaters without cheating yourself. Skill > Cheating any day.

Not that I'd know how in something like counterstrike.

Wonky Class Balance > Skill

Trust me, I played a Warlock in vanilla. :P

Lol, I find stories like this kind of hilarious - I'm laughing directly at your pain... but that GM is doomed to fail at some point. Hop guilds and just watch him crash and burn.

Or roll opposite faction and gank. :)
