The Wii-U virtual console doesn't exist yet, so I'm still sitting on the other side of the fence, looking and wondering why people are still using 7 year old tech at the price of a new console.

Uh well the Nintendo Wii-U has more powerful hardware than the PS3 and Xbox360. And both those consoles are around $300 just like the Wii-U, so what you said doesn't make any sense. :?

Its simple. It shouldn't have the price of a new console, the price should reflect the technology. And the ever lumbering march of technology says its old. A 300 dollar laptop could likely outclass the Wii-U.

Oh, wait. The one I bought in 2009 DID.

So really, why am I paying 300+ dollars for? The gimmick tablet, Iwata's social meddling program, Reggie's ineffective means of marketing, shovelware that wouldn't have been awarded the Seal of Quality in 1996, production of the sexy waste of plastic known as the Wii Mini, or the diving board in the Nintendo Vault?

Video game consoles are always behind PCs in terms of hardware. However, I find it funny you're acting surprised about that though like it's something new. Besides the lower-tech PS3 was around twice that much when it was released at $600.

Consoles have a different hardware standard than PCs since they're devoted almost entirely to games. And consoles usually run the games smoother too since developers know the exact specs they're working with.

A $300 laptop is going to be a complete piece of s**t for gaming that will barely run games 10 years old. Try and come up with a realistic comparison next time.

The price is entirely within line with similar existing technology and prices for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and you can damn well be sure Microsoft and Sony's next consoles are going to be minimum $400, if not more. Just look at the PS3, it was 500/600 at launch and you are complaining about the Wii U being 300/350?

Only game that I really enjoyed on WiiU was ZombiU. The more realistic gameplay as well as the permadeath feature really made this game enjoyable IMO. NSMBU was ok, but Nintendo doesn't seem to be putting out much effort on 2D Mario anymore.

Don't have many so far.

The one I'm most looking forward to is the Fire Emblem/Shin Megami Tensei Crossover. Not sure if that's on 3DS or WiiU though...

Oh, and WINDY WAKER REMAKE WOOOOOOOO!! !

The SMT/FE crossover is on Wii U. Everything they announced in their Nintendo Direct presentation this week was Wii U stuff. I too am totally stoked for the Wind Waker remake. Also Super Metroid virtual console release for 30 cents in May. Also they mentioned GBA games will get released on the virtual console store, so hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion.

Right now I only have NSMBU and Nintendoland, but I find New Super Mario Bros. U to be the best 2D Mario title in a long time, easily the best of the four recent NSMB titles. Also they should have one hell of an E3 presentation this year, with more information and videos for the Wind Waker remake and Yoshi game, screenshots for the next Smash Bros., and they confirmed they will have the next 3D Mario and next Mario Kart playable at E3 this year. Who knows what other surprises they have in store.

I still want to pick up Scribblenauts Unlimited and ZombiU when I can afford them, and looking forward to Rayman Legends and Pikmin 3 in the first half of this year. Possibly Lego City Undercover if it gets good reviews.

I also only own NSMB-U and Nintendo Land at the moment. However, I'm currently renting "COD:Black Ops 2" and "Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed" from Gamefly. I decided to play them on my Wii-U instead of my PS3. The Wii-U controller works great for them by the way.

Hypothetically, looking at the XBOX 360's specs.

PC versions of games also on consoles usually have much higher minimum system-requirements than the consoles hardware specs.

Perhaps, but its not like you'd be losing actual quality seeing as they're having to downscale new games since these old consoles can't handle the full thing anyway.
