Hey everyone I was just wondering what everyone favorite Paper Mario game is of the series. I personal love all 4 of them but the first 2 are really sticking out to me and guess I would have to say 1 s my personal favorite. Even though Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star I hear did not do as good I still love them. but I just courious what some other opinions are and thank you.

I've only played the first on the N64. But it was a really fun game.

Man... This is a difficult one. I really liked the first game for N64. I liked them all a lot, but the one for Wii is the least. I have yet to try the one for 3DS. What did they did was continued the RPG fighting style in the Mario & Luigi: Partner's in Time series. Ever since I played those games, I've been in love with them. That's what I missed when it came to Paper Mario. They really changed it dramatically in the Wii version, although it was still very fun.

Only played the Wii version. I remember liking it. I thought it was a refreshing take on Mario games. Would like to try the others at some point.

Would also like to try the Mario RPG. I like RPG's if they are fun and accessible, and don't need an excessive amount of grinding, micro managing, and finding rare items just to progress.

The ones I mentioned above are excellent games if you have the chance to try them. The Mario and Luigi ones. Very comparable to Paper Mario.

I agree Kinme. The Mario and Luigi games are fun. I'm really looking forward to Mario and Luigi's Dream team coming out soon for the 3DS.

I've only played TTYD and SPM, though I've also watched a Let's Play of the original.

To me, TTYD is just astounding. It's definitely in my top ten games of all time. Overall, everything about it just works. I love it how the battles have a lot of puzzle elements in them. I've never played any other RPG where practically every enemy in the game has a "gimmick" to figure out. It's not just "do damage until they die!" The game is lovingly crafted. You always get a new upgrade/partner/badge at just the right time for it to be interesting and useful. In that sense, it reminds me of Plants vs Zombies.

SPM, on the other hand, I didn't like so much. To me, they removed the two main "hooks" (turn-based battles and familiar Mario species) and replaced them with... not much at all.

I have some gripes about the series in general, specifically about how tedious it can get to go from one place to another. I don't mind the concept of backtracking, but something about the Paper Mario interface can get really annoying when you are doing huge treks across the world. Every time you have to enter a pipe, the screen does that whole paper thing, blah blah blah...

I just spotted that while browsing around on the Mario & Luigi Wikipedia page. I was confused why I hadn't heard of it until I realized it was for 3DS and wasn't yet in the U.S. It looks amazing. I want to at least get through the previous games before I play it, though. >.<

It is tedious, but those games are just way too fun to not play.

I love the Mario RPGs...that said, I was a little disappointed with Super Paper Mario ( so much dialogue, and it's mostly a side-scrolling platformer with light RPG elements ) and I'm currently struggling to get through Sticker Star ( just beat 3-12 for the 3rd Royal Sticker...pain in the ass ). No party, no EXP, no standard ( READ: NON STICKER RELATED ) attacks, ridiculously tight timing windows ( though not nearly as awful as the timing bits in Sonic Chronicles, which I'm also currently struggling with... ) and such a grind to get coins....

My favorites are definitely Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and the Mario & Luigi series ( so...all but the 2 mentioned above... )

I only played the first two paper mario games but I liked the first one better. I still liked the second one in a different way but the first one was better.

The noose at the center of rogueport is something I liked. All the subtle dark elements were interesting. I didn't like the gameplay as much which is why I prefer the first paper mario game.

Edit: I definitely want to play Super Mario RPG.

Rogue port in general is a really interesting place. TTYD is one of those rare games where the "hub world" has more character than most of the actual levels. The only other game I can think of like that is Mario Sunshine.

Twilight town had some character to it in my opinion. Some of it wasn't the level. Some of it was the emphasis placed on names. It just reminded me of some superstitions and magical things I've heard of before. I liked twilight town. I also liked glitzville and the bogley woods.

I still think rogueport beats out any of them in terms of character but the way you put it makes it seem like the other levels were nothing. They weren't nothing. Rogueport was just so good. You had the mafia and rival gang, the noose in the center of the town, some shops, walls covered in grafitti and floors littered with papers and cans. You had the mouse-like character asking for a loan, shady bandits, and petty goombas. There were harbour-workers, an old-timey bar below the inn, and a person on the roof sharing myths. It just had everything. Some of the other levels were great and would have stood out in any other game. It's a shame that some great levels are completely overlooked because rogeuport is just so amazing.

I've played the first 3, but I only really like 1 and 2. Not sure which one is my fav out of those though. If they make another one that's like 1 and 2 (not so much like 3) then I'd buy it for sure.
