It's to get out in time for next holiday!

It's also confirmed that this will be Generation VII. I'm a Generation Oner myself, but I hope the next fire-type starter is a rabbit, because I read that all the previous fire-type starters are based on Chinese Zodiac signs, and I am born in the year of the Rabbit.

OMG! So psyched!! !! Also the VC R/B/Y games use Pokemon Bank to transfer Gen 1 to Gen 7 HOW THAT WILL WORK I HAVE NO EARTHLY CLUE! Since Gen 1 didn't have natures/abilities/IVs/EVs/ split Special/physical attack etc.! !! ! That future Gens created.

So PSYCHED! Going to get Red VC ASAP on Eshop just for nostalgia! I know they are clunky buggy run slow etc. etc. BUT YA NOSTALGIA! I still like the original SMB and Metroid/DK/Final Fantasy so no shame in playing NES or early GB games at all!! ! GO CLASSICS!! !! !! !! !!

Feh, way too far off for me to get interested. It's still February...

I gotta see the Cover Legendaries first and "Exclusive to certain version" For me which ones look cooler exclusive wise. I have a full Pokedex practically from X transferring up to ORAS so PM me if you want trades and possibly have the opposite from my Gen VII version LOL! Thanks! Poke fans!

It would be great if the fire type was a kitty Pokemon that was based on the Japanese Nekomatta [ghost yokai], and then it's final evolved form could be fire/ghost.

Ghost/fire sounds cool. IMO the Gen VII starters I feel should be more unique besides turtle/otter/salamander/monkey as past starters have been. Small pig evolving into a boor or little frog into bigger frog (With Froakie in Gen VI) Some starters that are more unique please. Also agree with the you tubers A DARK TYPE ONLY GYM PLEASE!

I hope the Water starter will be cute like Piplup.
A Dark type gym would be awesome! The gym leader could have a Zoroark.

Woo-hoo! I am so excited, I can't wait to see the trickles of info as it comes. I wonder what starters they have picked this time. I hope they'll add a new turtle! Wonder what the region is like.

I'm surprised they're not making a Pokemon Z though. After X and Y it seemed like a sure thing.

^So if you could design new starter Pokemon for the new games, what would they be like?

My ideas:

Grass starter - Moose covered in ivy, secondary type is fighting after evolution.

Fire starter - Rabbit with flaming ears and cotton tail, secondary type is ground after evolution

Water starter - Flamingo with magnificent-looking wings, secondary type is fairy after evolution.

I want a dolphin Pokemon perhaps as a final starter evolution? I'm done with monkeys though Mankey/infernape/chimchar etc. enough with the monkey/ape lines. Also stupid fish like luvdisc (that green gen V thing) and yes even Magikarp (YES OMG! gyardos cool but enough with stupid fish pokemon! Also we have enough bats. That new Gen 6 dragon/bat thing. zubat line and woobat from gen V. Enough of the bats.

While people were negative on these I think regular items are neat ideas. We've had trash/keys/chandeliuer/washer/lawnmower etc. (Rotem line and multiple forms of him) were cool.

Not sure what other inanimate objects can become Pokemon next. If it's aiming for holidays perhaps a Christmas tree with ornaments. If pumpkins are universal Halloween so are Christmas trees with Christmas. Religion and God and santa doesn't have to come into it. Just a sapling that grows into a final evolution of a Christmas tree. That'd be cute!

Wish we would have known more though I want to see legendary covers and exclusives before I make my decision on getting either Moon or Sun. IMO 99% chance take the opportunity for a wolf cover legend "Howling at the moon" Gamefreak??
