And yet it offers the best protection from the tide. The spark of life lives in the deep fires of this world and yet the fire incinerates everything in a breath, leaving nothing but ashes. All our elements preserve and destroy but only in water that has become hard and solid as rock will everything be transformed into an eternal pillar of salt where life is barely possible.

This is taken from Gothic II. For such a nasty beast, hideous beast, he's very poetic. :)

I love the Cid Highwind quotes from Final Fantasy VII but one of my favorites is from "Road Rash 2000: Jailbreak":

When you get caught by the police in RRJ, I get this quote from time to time:

"Laws are the spider webs where the big bugs fly past and the little ones get caught. Hungry?"

Mine would be from Duke Nukem, even though that series is no longer my top favorite: "It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum." 8)

The first Mass Effect game was infamous for trying to hide loading screens behind short videos. Most notable were those interminable elevator rides in the Citadel, in which the game would dump info on the player in the form of radio broadcasts or conversations between the NPCs.

There's a nod to this in ME3, if you go walking through the stairs of the Citadel with Garrus and Tali (who were with you in all three games):

GARRUS: Don't you miss those long elevator rides? Just the three of us, with nothing to do but talk about things like what being a quarian is like?

TALI: (testily) No.

GARRUS: Come on, Tali. For old times' sake. Tell us again about your immune system.

TALI: I have a shotgun.
