Started Kirby 64 Crystal Shards tonight. So far I'm on the Rock Star level boss. Hopefully I can beat the final stage. I got to it when I was a little kid.

I love those dear hearts [BOOOM] and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts [KABOOOM] and gentle people
Will never ever let you down

Still playing Grand Theft Auto V but had a short intermission because my Windows crapped out on me so I switched to Linux and played some Terraria while I figure out how to play games like Grand Theft Auto V on Linux. I actually found a solution if there are any linux enthusiast out there but since thats grossly off topic, I'll just give a hint - iommu, lots of compiling and little sleep = GTA V on Linux.

Hmm, so I take it you recompiled your kernel then. What kind of CPU and GPU do you run? Also, would this work for playing other DX10 games?

Its off topic but I guess I don't care if you don't care, yes I had to patch the kernel for vfio (Virtual Function I/O) and compile several drivers/modules. You need a processor that supports AMD-Vi / VT-x and a motherboard that supports iommu and yes you can run other games. Its a virtual machine that has accelerated graphics, it has 90-95% of the performace of running Windows by itself with 100% compatibility.

Its very complex, if you want, I can go a bit deeper over PM but you need two video cards plus the above requirements and probably more. This is Dark Soul - prepare to have a kernel panic edition.

If this page makes no sense to you than avoid - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF

System Specs, I plan on getting a second high end video card which is why my PSU is overkill, plus it was good deal.

Arch Linux x86_64 - Kernel 4.1.13-1-vfio-lts
AMD FX 8350 @ 4.6 Ghz
Geforce GTX 980 4 GB Edition
Asus Crosshair Formula Z Motherboard
32 GBs of DDR3 Ram
1 TB Hard Drive
1200 Watt PSU
Blu-ray/DVD/CD Read-Writer

I've been almost completely out of free time during the last months but things are finally getting better with the semester ending. I played A LOT of Super Mario Maker on the last weekend and expect to play it more and more now that I'll have the time for it. What an awesome game! This game is making the wait for Xenoblade Chronicles X next month way easier.

Mostly Isaac, Super Mario Maker, and Mushihime-sama. Same things I"ve been playing alot of for awhile.

Aint likely to change anytime soon. Far as I know, there's nothing interesting coming out for a long while. Not for a couple of months at least.

What I'm NOT playing any of right now is multiplayer games aside from Splatoon. I'll probably refrain from going over to friends' houses for awhile until the freaking Fallout 4 hype goes away; already very tired of that game, and everyone I know is already A: playing it, and B: rambling about it endlessly. Just.... ugh. I'll keep to myself, thanks...

would you say you're much of a builder, terrariawise?

i played the hell out of that game, so much it found its way into my dreams. 8O i dreamt i was descending one of the dungeon's vertical entrance chasms but it was flooded. this particular chasm was incredibly deep, rather dark and claustrophobic. i found myself in part that zigzagged and had wood planks interspersed in random locations. to my right was the dungeon proper, on the left was a door that wasn't there before. on the other side was a surreal dreamscape with orange and green oscillating and pulsating vrittaine crests and patterns in the background, orange sky, orange grass. enormous trees dotted the landscape the most notable thing however, which caught my eye at first was the enormous iguana sclpture, as if carved from a colossal hedge.

i awoke and i said "i have to recreate this!"

...

i was sad when i found out you couldn't remove backgrounds past the surface layer. :( so i couldn't place it as deepas it was in the dream. all the dirt blocks i gathered when excavating the area, i placed on top so i wouldnlt see it when i walked on the surface.

i also recreated the dungeon entrance, sort of.

i guess this is a work in progress, the iguana(?) is a bit too small but i don't want it to take up too much space. and you run out of wood for the leaf wand faster than you think.

^Wow! That's so epic!

I'm taking a break from Rune Factory 4 and Story of Seasons to play some Final Fantasy Curtain Call. *musical note*

Not to level you are with that dungeon but I built a castle with a guard tower and it was pretty nice.

Here is a video of me destroying an early version of my castle, its much more full in the inside now,

beautiful absolutely beautiful.

even more satisfying is using the snowman cannon with the rocket IV. absolutely destroys every landscape.

I'm playing that old game that makes me hate every crab on the planet.

You know, Blaster Master on the NES.

It's called TESTING, o developers! Really shoulda done more of it with this game!

All the time, whenever I think of this game, I wonder why I havent played it in ages. EVERY time, I then go and play it, and after 10000 cheap hits because the devs NEVER considered the NES's hardware limitations when designing levels (enemies WILL just POP onto the screen right on top of you in many, many areas; this could have been entirely avoided with proper testing) comes the most tedious boss on the console, or at least the most tedious one I"ve ever encountered, which is the Big Stupid Crab in area 5. Blocks your bullets with rapid-fire bubbles. Which are it's one and only attack. And then it has 10 squillion HP. It's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in boss form (OBVIOUSLY you have no rapid fire option; was extremely rare in games back then).

Whoever thought that was a good idea, hopefully was fired and never worked in the industry again. Same with whoever didnt notice how much of a mess that fight is during testing.

Sad thing is? It's not that hard of a boss, it really isnt. It's kinda easy. But it takes so unholy long that I've often watched players suicide against it because, after 20 damn minutes of trying to bypass it's stupid bubbles with a really sad and awkward gun, their patience snaps and they absolutely will crash into it just to shove a thousand grenades up it's nose (hyper short-ranged weapon and the only one that does real damage unless your gun is FULLY powered; the boss still takes a million hits to kill with it though). At that point, either it dies first, or the player does... no skill involved. Because you have to stand RIGHT in front of it to hit it with grenades (guaranteed damage to you).

Ugh. As much as I love retro games, that sort of design is something I'm glad NOT to see anymore. .....usually.

There, rant over.

I am hoping to play Arkham Knight on the PS4 on Monday. It's been reduced to £21 on "Shopto.net".

favorite 3d zelda. i feel at times that the alternate universe thing was an attempt to justify recycling characters with the limited dev time. to me, they pulled it off.

Bloodborne : The Old Hunters expansion.

I've bought DLC and been largely disappointed with it by and large for a long while (since Skyrim's DLC). The Old Hunters has (so far) totally battered that conception for me. The new areas, enemies, bosses, tidbits of lore, mini-quest lines, all add to what has to be one of the best and most atmospheric games I've ever played. If you're unfamiliar with Bloodborne, it was made as a PS4 exclusive by the makers of the Dark Souls series, From Software. It utilises similar but different mechanics, and is far more aggressive and fluid than the Souls series. It also has a swirling air of Lovecraftian horror and mystery to it that I absolutely love.

I'll try not to blather on too much, but here's a link to some of the music included in the game, just to give you an idea of the atmosphere of it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RzA_Oomra8
