Games that disappointed you the most, name yours!
Grand Theft Auto IV and Final Fantasy VIII were the two biggest video game disappointments I ever faced.
They weren't bad games, but they certainly paled in comparison to what came before them.
The worst game I ever encountered was the 360 incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog - but I had such low hopes for that game to begin with that I seriously cannot call it a disappointment. That series went seriously downhill after the Genesis died.

may i ask why?
mario 2 was also kind of weird. has anyone ever beat it?
I assume you mean the Super Mario Brothers 2 with the plucking of the vegetables and the tossing of the Shyguys?
I loved that one as a kid, I really did. It was my favorite for a while, just because it was so different. Later on we learned about how it's really a reprogrammed Doki Doki panic, but I'm still glad it's part of the mario universe.
Almost beat it once myself, and have seen it beaten before. Wart is pretty tough.

Medal of Honor European Assault - I was very disappointed by this game, especially since some of the other MOH titles had been excellent. The graphics and levels were very lackluster, the gameplay was tedious, but worst of all, there were no checkpoints, meaning I had to replay the same mission over and over in its entirety. This is one of the few games which I gave up on finishing.
Medal of Honor Pacific Assault - Though not nearly as frustrating for me as MOHEA, it was too boring and tedious to hold my interest. Again, I never finished it. (It seems that the MOH franchise has gone downhill.)
Quake 3 Arena - As someone who only plays single-player games, I was disappointed by Id Software's decision to make the third Quake a solely deathmatch game... especially since Quake II's single-player campaign was one of the best I had ever played. With Q3A on the other hand, I only played 2 or 3 levels before uninstalling it.
Unreal II - I had high hopes for this game. I loved the first Unreal, and the screenshots for this one looked very promising, particularly the new look for the Skaarj. What do I get? A game revolving around evil space men with guns. WTF. Now, that's not to say it was a "bad" game... there were a few interesting levels, and some of the weapons had cool effects... but it wasn't anywhere near as good as I thought it would be.
F.E.A.R. Extraction Point - Not a bad game, but it should've been called "Extraction Pointless" since there didn't seem to be any real story (unlike the original F.E.A.R.) and you basically lose no matter what.
Crysis - I liked it, but I didn't think it lived up to all the hype. And of course, there was the infamous system lag... which was especially annoying for me, because my PC had been specifically designed to handle system-intensive games at the time (or so they said.) Also, in Crysis Warhead, I was a little disappointed that Psycho didn't get that many good lines besides "I'm British, you muppet!"
i would have to say Demon Stone.....i bought it new for $50 but felt cheated...i ended up giving it away...cool concept but overall just not for me, i can't explain why but just didn't care for it....and most Mortal Kombat games....i'm not good at them to begin with but even with some practice i can hold my own...except in MK even on easy i get stomped...tho i do like shaolin monks and some of the extra stuff on the more recent MK games....
Slow, overly simplistic, unbalanced, sh***y roster, sh***y character designs.
What other fighters have you played? I've played nearly every one since Street Fighter 2 first came out and I really enjoyed SF4. What didn't you like about the roster? Sagat is a little over powered and Vega is under powered but other than that, it's very balanced.
This is another great game. Like you said, has good gameplay, good visuals, great sound effects/voice cast, and a good story? What more do you want?

Dozens of them.
-Every single installment of The King of Fighters, including KOF XII
-BlazBlue
-every single installment of Guilty Gear, including GGX2 Accent Core Plus
-Hokuto no Ken
-The Rumble Fish
-Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum
-every installment of Virtua Fighter, including VF5
-Marvel vs. Capcom 2
-Capcom vs. SNK 2
-Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
-Project Justice
-Soul Calibur 1-4
-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
-every installment of Samurai Shodown
-Last Blade 1 & 2
-every installment of Fatal Fury, including Garou: Mark of the Wolves
-all three Art of Fighting games
-and many more that I can't think of right now.
The fact that it is an almost complete rehash of Super Turbo's roster. I'm sick and tired of the SF2 cast - have been for many years now. I do not like a single one of the SF2 characters, because they're utterly dull, generic & boring. All my faves were from Alpha 3 and Third Strike, and even then it was kind of hit-and-miss. Also, I detest Rufus and El Fuerte. The only characters in SF4 I even care about are Abel and Crimson Viper, and even then they aren't really all that great.
On a side note, the character designs are just godawful. Steroid-induced characters + goofy facial expressions = epic fail.
Oh please, "a little overpowered"? Sagat is completely broken.
Actually, Vega is bottom-tier - he got nerfed way too much.
Um, no it's not. You sure you know what you're talking about?
Sagat is broken, Ryu/Balrog/Bison/Rufus are all overpowered (yes, there is a difference between 'broken' and overpowered'), and the shotos are all scrub-bait, save for Gouken (and that's only because he doesn't really play like Ryu or Ken). Also, several command grabs can hit you out of wakeup after a knockdown, which is why people also spam Zangief - all he has to do is box you in the corner and spam Atomic Buster for the win. I've seen people do it before.
Also, Focus Attacks really aren't all that useful, as there are lots of moves that can stuff it. From what I've seen they really only work on standing attacks most of the time, and only at certain points during the chargeup animation. Other than that, there isn't much strategy or depth to the game - I just see players doing the exact same things over and over again a la SF2. And then there's the Ultras - what's the point of having supers if it's much easier to save up meter for an Ultra? I just see people get kicked around to build Ultra meter, then zone/play turtle all day and hunt for an opening to use said Ultra.
SF4 is slow, shallow, boring, and largely dominated by zoning a la SF2.
For you, maybe. However, I gave it a try and just did not see what all the fuss was about.
Which is the only reason why I played it more than once.
Graphics are of no concern to me. They're only going to keep getting better, and there are far more important aspects (like gameplay, story, etc.) that gamers need to be focusing more on anyways.
The voicing is indeed good, and so is the plot. Sound effects, I don't really care about.
A game that lives up to its hype, and Arkham Asylum failed to do that. IMO it was just another next-gen stealth action game with Batman characters thrown in. It's decent, but not worth my money.

Definitely, that game was a big disappointment for me too.
I'll go with a couple of oldies - Cannon Fodder 2 wasn't so much fun, and the sequels to Lemmings (apart from Oh No, More Lemmings which was more an expansion pack) didn't really have the same appeal. Though when I think of the endless hours spent on getting timing pixel-perfect on the original, I'm not sure where that appeal lay!

I heard it was really bad, but I tried the demo anyway.
Walk down corridor, walk into room, listen to dudes talking for a while, walk down another corridor, into a room, dudes shoot at you, there's nothing to dodge behind, and even if there was, your character moves much to slow to be able to get there in time, so all you can do is suffer with the damage and press the left mouse button a few times.
Finally the game crashed to desktop and I gave thanks to God for having such mercy on me.

My votes would be for the following,
-Silent Hill 4 The Room, just eugh. Period.
-Spore, hardly entertaining at all.
-Godfather II, crappy gameplay and crappy imitation of the Godfather "canon".
-Resident Evil 5, strayed too far away from what I knew and liked Resident Evil as, like in the first couple games.
-Fallout 3, not epic enough, enemies are frustrating to kill, and the ammo is not unlimited in the sense that, when it's gone, it'll never respawn, at least to my knowledge it doesn't.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts- Now I DON'T hate the game, it's actually got a nice creativity aspect about it and the graphics are pretty stunning, but it's really just not the "Banjo-Threeie" I had been waiting 8 years for. I really hope the next game is more traditional, or at least they don't try and mess up Conker.
In defense of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass from someone who likes it- Now I agree The Temple of the Ocean King was annoying, but the controls felt absolutely perfect to me. Controlling Link via the touchscreen felt so smooth that I love it (smooth controlling is always a huge plus from me, which is one reason why I love The Conduit on the Wii; the gameplay may feel very old school, but the controls felt so perfect to me that this is the first FPS on a home console that gives the PC setup some healthy competition).
I can't wait for Spirit Tracks! (hopefully they're avoiding a repeat of the Temple of the Ocean King in ST.)
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. (Sigil Games) The original programming team from EQ (Varant) created this MMORPG with player owned boats, housing, flying mounts, and great graphics.... too bad it never really got out of beta. Maybe it’s because SoE took over the project and killed it.
Dungeons & Dragons Online: Never really felt like an online world.
I play EQ2 & WoW, switch between the two ever 6-10 months. But I never really recovered from the burnout from the endless grinding in the original EQ. Sometimes I have to take a year break just to clear my head.
I really do not like the controls at all...half the time, your stylus/hand is covering up the screen, so you can't even see where you're going. Don't even get me started on how often I try to roll into a tree, only to fly off a cliff into the water instead

I found an AR code I'm going to patch into the ROM to add d-pad movement, like Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland has, but now that Summer's ending, I'm not really in the mood to play Phantom Hourglass at all.
Next summer I will finally give it the playthrough it deserves, I promise
