Well, technically the Exile still had his/her memories - we just weren't made privy to them until the time came. Or do you mean the erasure of HK-47's memory data? Which yeah, don't see the point there either - what great revelation could come? The rest of the galaxy already knew that the Jedi who saved/destroyed the Republic was really Revan. And what purpose did it serve, having HK-47 not remember T3-M3 (the only other continuing character)? Just have Revan wipe his/her destination from HK-47's memory, and that aspect is taken care of.
OTOH, I didn't like the missing stories from Sith Lords, whose stubs were still in the plotline (like the elimination of the HK-50 factory, or the story behind G0-T0 and its final confrontation with Bao-Dur's remote). I understand that wasn't really Obsidian's fault, but rather the result of LucasArts' insistence that the game had to be out in time for Christmas that year and to hell with how
good it was (sadly, a precursor to the attitude of LucasFilms to the production of the prequel movies, it would seem...).
