I am the same way in Oblivion,Fallout 3 and various other games my character needs to be perfect if I notice even one slight little problem like the eyes are slightly wrong or the nose is too big then I have to restart. So far I have restarted Oblivion about 30ish times until I decided to give up and it now sits gathering dust and in Fallout 3 it is nearing the 100th time that I have restarted. I really wish they had a cosmetic surgeon in games so that you could change your character at anytime. I also restart games if I decide that I no longer like the name I gave my characters. I also tend to get a bit irritated if the magic roster doesn't include healing or buffing spells in games or if you have to play as a set main character and have no control over your allies the only exception being where you can create your own MC. Well that is why I have been sticking with games like Disgaea 2:Dark Hero Days recently it is much easier to just pick a favorite out of all the character types and make it into my most used character and to top you can change their name whenever you want :D

Man! That is EXACTLY like me! XD

The reason I restart is because either I find something wrong like the eyes being too big or small, the hair being the wrong color or shape, or my skills I've selected are wrong. Sometimes I want to make an exact copy of myself, and sometimes a character based on something I saw off TV. Sometimes I feel I've made a bad choice and instead of dealing with the mistake, I just start over. :(

Actualy I think there is a cosmetic surgeon in Fallout 3, I think he is in the broken off part of Rivet city, he is part of a mission in that he changed someone's face. Reminds me that I have to do that, but at the moment I have to escape with the declaration of inderpendance while keeping another girl alive, at least I have plenty of stimpacks, nice amount of ammo and a super mutant ally whith a gattaling lazer.

I finished RE5, my nerves kept getting me, and not just horror, I had decided in game to share weapons by giving myself easy to use pistol and shotgun, which is simple to use and effective ammo control, and give ally machine gun and rifle. I was getting a bit worried at times because different ammo appeard more often at different parts, and my ally kept useing up too much machine gun and not useing the rifle that had like 90 shots. Stupid AI doesn't share my strategy with effective amunition usage.

I had no idea I really should go check out Rivet city again :D

I have the same problem only I use the Machine gun and Rifle lol well I solved it by playing only when my twin wants to play it saves me from unnecessary stress although I understand not everyone has siblings/siblings with similar interests.

I usually make my male characters look like me and my female characters look like whatever I can come up with. It is very tricky to make characters look at least similar to me so I tend to make female characters and avoid any anxiety. It does make some people I know ask quite a few questions about why I always play female characters but that is easier to deal with than trying to create a character for aprox 3 days and 7 hours that's how long it took me to make a character in fallout 3 for the first time and I have repeated the process multiple times. The only requirement for my female characters are they must be cute not sexy idk why but I don't really like sexy characters. Oh and when I play male characters I like them to be lean not toned which most male characters seem to have too much muscle for my liking and games don't seem to give the option about altering body type.

lol, I'm kind of the opposite, I tend to play more as a male version of myself then females. I guess it's because when I make myself, I'm able to adabt to my OC phases easier, like change from being a super-deadly assassin to being a rugged wasteland survavilist, whetre as if I make a character suited for one roleplay purpose, it's hard to change. And I always make the SPECIAL skills match mine in real life, and I'll spend hours trying to perfect my character to look exactly like me. I'll even take a picture of myself and study the features carefully when making myself.

I usually prefer to take on a healer or supporting role in games. In Fallout I sneak around with silenced weapons,a rifle w/ scope and break open all the locked boxes looking for treasure. I have not quite figured out how to hack terminals because most of my time spent playing Fallout is remaking a character. On both my males and female characters I use cloth type clothing so my characters look like they should be dead the second they step outside lol. That is a good idea about taking pictures I will have to try that out sometime. I usually just look at the mirror once and go from memory but having a picture to study makes much more sense.

You guys reminded me of one of my biggest upsets in an rpg. I had just basicly completed a lot in Fable 2 and bought the most expensive house (a castle), ok so I took my really cool male character to explore the place and I planed to then get my favirout family to live there. Well towards the end of checking out the secrets they have one room that has a gender bending potion, well I felt compelled to check out what a female version of my character would look like. BIG mistake the game automaticly saved once the potion was drunk, and now I am left with a very manly scarilly muscular female character, and neither my good family or my evil family liked it (I can't service my wives anymore). All that work to have my character feel so flawed makes me quite sad.

In many games I do find it hard when I try to play it complety one sided. I also made a mistake in Fable 2 when I wanted to be totaly good, I started a quest by accident that would force me to complete the quest by killing a farmer which would in the future change the area negativly. Ruining my utopian character, and havent played that game since. And in some games I have trouble deciding between my perfectionism pure, and doing the fun thing. So what if I want use my mind trick, to get out of paying fees, or to make a couple thugs think jumping off a cliff is a really fun idea (always makes me laugh).

Well I can't play fable as a magic user the magic system causes a lot of stress for me unlike the original where I have a lot more choices and could customize my skills more and I don't like how my character gets scars and their appearance changes with your choices I had spent hours trying to get my character the right clothing and hairstyle after that was all over I died multiple times which caused him to get a bunch of scars all over his face. If the scars were on his body that would be fine because they are easy to hide but they popped up in all the wrong spots :( and I am imagining your character as that very muscular woman who carries that vase thing(I forgot her name) and it is actually pretty funny. My brother has a character like that and dressed her up like a prostitute which is fine when I see other people playing as funny characters but when it comes to my own I just can't seem to convince myself that it isn't that big of a deal.

One thing I really want to try is to make a female version of myself, like decide what I would like as a female and make that into a character, but I feel kind of weird doing that.

I mean in other games where you don't get to customize your character I tend to favor female characters over males, but it's hard for me to make a female I like in an RPG. So I thought about just making myself as a female, is that a weird idea? :?

I don't think it is weird but I do the same thing. I have never once in all sixteen years of playing video games(I have been playing since the age of three) played as a male character when a female character was also an option. My brother finds it odd but I don't see what the big deal is it is a video games you have magical powers, unrealistic guns or a combination of both lol. What difference does having a female character make? In some games it is actually better to have a female character due to different stat gains. When I have no choice but to play as one pre-made character I do not get as much enjoyment out of a game for some reason but if I have a few options of pre-made characters or the option of creating my own it is easier to get me hooked to a game.

Yeah, I tend to perfer the females over males too. I guess it's because male characters tend to be so stereotypically masculine, which I'm not masculine by no means. :P I tend to relate more to the female characters in games because I don't find them as stereotyped as the guys are, though I guess a lot of female gamers find the female characters to be stereotyped too (and I know a lot of girls that perfer playing males).

I might try making a female version of myself in Fallout 3 and see how it plays.

Apparently it is fun being a female character being a total bi#ch in Mass Effect, but now I am stuck between continuing being a bi#ch, or making my character go into an inter species lesbian relationship with a cute blue alien. Stupid decisions the perfectionist in me says go for total bi#ch, but the male in me says go for the yuri scene.

At least in Fable 2 I could do both with making my character run around in with devil horns and dressed like a prostitute, trying to seduce people, and I could pass it off as a style. And at some times I would save and get my character to buy and consume a large amount of alcohol, and my slim character would bloat up, start throwing up and I get her to run around in her underwear  . Scares a bunch of the people. Or the time my nice guy ended up nearly killing an entire town in Oblivion.

lol speaking of Fable 2, it's one of the few games where I actually enjoy playing as a male, because you can make your male character gay and femenin yet at the same time he can look cool slicing monsters with his sword and blasting them with fire. It's vice versa with female characters too, you can make a very masculine lesbian female with muscles who wears tomboyish clothes.

Lol I haven't played Mass Effect what is the character creation like in that game? I have heard a bit about it but never think to pick it up when I am in the mall. Do you get to make choose a personality for your character or do they have preset designs and stuff?

It's both. There are presets or you can edit minutiae. Mass Effect is a really good game (like most Bioware titles) and well worth the trip.
