I did like playing "Alex the Kidd" and "Ghouls and Ghost" There are probably loads of games out there that kids today would never had heard of. With the graphics of the time, they kept me entertained 8)

Chuckie Egg was a good game. I must have spent some hours on that one.

Reminds me of when I went to an army family dinner and I hung out with the other army kids who were playing on a Nintendo 64, and as usual the only game was Diddy Kong Racing. I tried to mention some of the greats on Nintendo 64 like Banjo-Kazooie, Pokemon Snap, Star Wars ep 1 racer and even Legend of Zelda: Occarina of Time, and they had not heard of them.

Also I think another one, one of my favirouts was "The Firemen" on the SNES, probably one the ones I played the most.

Base Wars for the NES.

Edit: Base Wars is not my favorite game per se (though it does rank highly on my list of favorite games), but it probably is my favorite "game nobody heard of."

Here's a few that I've played a lot that not a lot of people have heard of:

Zombies Ate my Neighbors for NES

Clayfighter 63 1/3 for N64

Mission: Impossible for N64

The World Ends With You for DS

Johnny Mnemonic for PC

Scratches for the PC--It's a point-and-click adventure that's really fun plus it scared the s--t out of me.

Dementium for the Nintendo DS--You wake up in a mental institution filled with zombies and stuff and have to escape. Awesome.

Rodent's Revenge--my favorite game when I was little, for PC. You're a mouse who traps cats by moving blocks and turns them into cheese--but if you don't block them they will eat you.

MDK 1 and 2. Both were fun games that had a great sense of humor. It's a shame that it doesn't get much love these days.

Also, Dead to Rights is another good one.

I liked that game. The characters were really freaky.

An old PC game called Imperium Galactica. I can't even find a working download for it.

@Atomic Kaiju: I LOVE OSU! It's amazing. I have that, the sequel, and Elite Beat Agents on an R4 card for my DS.

The Descent series. The first game was out a year before Quake, and everything except the powerups and wall textures was rendered using polygonal objects with physical mass. It was the first game of to do so. Not Quake. Reviewers and game journalists, please stop getting this wrong!

Descent 2 added to the original, and it's my current all-time favorite.

Descent 3 tried to revamp the original formula. It was okay, but not rock-your-socks-off awesome.

I did cheer when I heard that Interplay was planning to restart development on Descent 4. If it doesn't rock my socks off, I will cry.

I am not a fanboy.

If you've come for the fork ...

This one seemed to come and go without much fuss, but I quite enjoyed it.
Even the cover art was cool.

Uniracers for the SNES. A crazy little racing game where you race as unicycles, and do tricks to gain speed. My brother and I loved playing against each other with this, and even named a couple of the unicycles after ourselves.

Strife for the PC. Old RPGFPS based on the doom 1 engine.
