Is anyone else tired of the term "hardcore gamers"

I had been thinking of that aswell, it is a good point of how it is changing, and as games become more mainstream, many game companies are switching over from trying to please the small oldschool market and instead get profit from the large general public. In one way they are getting more people into gaming, though the market is also getting more dumbed down games. Personaly I don't really like a lot of arcade styled games anyway.

I've seen that before, and I still maintain that videogames have been going mainstream since Final Fantasy VII.

I prefer the term "gamer" at it's most literal: a person who plays games. Crysis, Halo, Uncharted, Mario, even chess; if it's a game, and you play it, you're a gamer.

"Hardcore" and "casual," on that other hand, I only ever use to denote a game's intensity level. The more you have to focus to progress in the game, the more "hardcore" it is.

I do NOT use the terms to discriminate against games, hardware, or other players. Arguing over video games with unintelligent slugs who can't see past their own pimples is a waste of time and energy.
