I know what you mean! I notice you used the word suffering there. Would you want to get a 'direct jack' implant? Technology is advancing amazingly quickly these days, so it might be possible sooner than later. Personally, I wouldn't because I need some time off the net or I go nuts, and also I've read too much dystopian fiction to ever trust corp made hardware directly interfaced with my mind :-)

Yeah, quite. And never mind the potential for mind control, "sorry I'm late for work this morning, my left eye bluescreened and my large intestine had a fatal dump..."

I never really had a social life in school. Never went to parties, or was invited. Never did any of the "clubbing" crap as a young adult, never really saw a point to it. Really I get more social contact by playing online games (currently resubbed to WoW, too bored with single player games).

If I stopped playing games what would I do? What is there to do? I have no idea how people can just "do things". Talking about crap drinking coffee or going out for social drinking? Quite frankly I would hate to do them. The last "party" I went to after 30min it felt so uncomfortable I had to leave. It was a casual work thing too, I knew everyone there. Just that overwhelming uncomfortable feeling, couldn't stand it.

I may be addicted to games, or it may be other things, but until someone offers something to adequately fill the void by stopping I can't really. I get insanely bored.

I've always loved video games and there was a time in my life when I was definitely addicted. Throughout Middle School, I was always depressed and didn't have any friends (well, I had one friend), but good old Squall Leonheart from FFVIII or my trustworthy Sims never let me down. :] As I got older, I've started to do more stuff in the real world, and the more involved I get in the real world, the less I play video games. Also, they don't make nearly as many that interest me anymore. Now, maybe I'll find a new game that peaks my interest every few months, if that. I think these days I have more of an addiction to Facebook than anything else.

I suffer from an occasional acute video game addiction, but it is still a large improvement over being addicted to video games every day.
