Well, for one thing, if you'd reprogrammed the geth instead of destroying them, they'd be on hand to help you with the Reapers in 3...

In the dialog option I asked "why don't you make that choice Legion?" Legion replied with something about Shepard's dealings with Heretics before. In the end Legion, and the geth he represented, gave me the choice to save or destroy the Heretics. I choose to destroy them. Since their permission was given I think in the end they will offer their help against the Reapers minus the fifty thousand or so I killed on the Heretic space station.

Oh, the Heretics . . . that explains it. There was a mission in ME1 where you could assist Tali in finding Geth who had not been affected by the Reapers and were out on their own (needed them in order to get some data about so she could present it for her return gift). I'm guessing the followers of the Reapers were the Heretics.

Yes. That's what Legion and the geth called them. Heretics are anti-organic. I find it interesting that even after Saren and Sovereign died the Heretics continued their campaign to eradicate organics; albeit in a weakened state. That it would take a virus to literally change their mind says a lot about their tenacity. If BioWare decides to opt them in as a race that helps Shepard I think their tenacity could become a great asset in the final confrontation with the Reapers.

Legion died but I didn't mean for him to die.

There is one part of the final mission where what you're doing can kill a character even if you did the loyalty mission. When you send your tech (choose Legion or Tali) through the ductwork to open to door for the second team, you have to make it to each of the (six?) vent controls and open them before the heat buildup kills the tech. If you don't make it, the tech dies. (That's where the particle beam comes in handy - the Collectors are most vulnerable to their own weapon. It's almost as if Harbinger did that to them as an intelligence test for their enemies... Burns right through Harbinger's avatar, the one with the glowing eyes.)

Other than that, if you do the loyalty missions, send appropriate personnel on side missions in the base, and don't die at the end, you should be able to save everybody.

Has anyone given the - erm - Item At the End to the Illusive Man? I always tell him where he can stuff it, and set my charges.

I did at first, but when he did that smirk I loaded an older game so I could tell him to go to hell. The second decision felt good. It even felt better when Jacob told Shepard Cerberus is now after him. Great! Bring it on Illusive Man!

By the way I think this thread is getting slightly off topic. It's not a support thread to tell me how to save my characters. I've already come to peace with my decisions. No, this thread is a query to find out if any of you killed your teammates, which ones and why?

The only time I lost a team mate was the first time i played the game and that was legion. He got shot at one of those door sequences.

Since then I don't think ive played a game were I lost anyone. It seems to be common sense who you send and what teams you compose.

Anyway once I get my evil Adept through ME1 on insanity we can see how many she knocks off in ME2 on insanity. Playing a vanguard on insanity difficulty is a b***h, I bet an adept must be even worse

If you want to keep the entire team alive, follow this link, and scroll down to "Suicide Mission".

If you don't, follow that link, scroll down to "Suicide Mission", and do the opposite of what it says. :)

When I finished ME2, the only character who died was Jack and that was unintended. I did all the loyalty missions and made sure everyone was remained loyal and upgraded the ship and all. I thought she'd make a good distraction to the collectors since she seemed to want to blow stuff up but she died. Oh well. Everyone else survived.

Its been awhile since I played, but I'm pretty sure I sent Mordin off to die. I thought I had got everyone out alive but I guess I didn't *shrugs*. I know I sent Legion into the tunnels, Grunt to escort survivors, Garrus to lead the assault, and Sahara to protect us with her shield. But thats all I remember. I think I sent Mordin with another weak member (probably Tali) and thats probably what killed him.

First time, no party member deaths. However, all my crew died except Dr. Chakwas because I didn't realise that time was an actual factor.

So, I played through the entire game again and managed to save everyone, including my entire crew.

In ME2, I think all my people lived. In ME1, I actually had to choose and it sucked! :(
