My gameing tastes... lets see....

Love the retro stuff, SNES and earlier. Also am a huge fan of JRPGs. And to be honest sandbox games irritate the hell out of me, I like having the set goal of the more linear games.

It's the people that blame game violence for real violence that get me (Columbine anyone). Good grief . . . I play my games because it's the best way for me to relieve my stress without taking it out on anyone else. Do I harbor rage and anger, yes, but I know I'd definitely lose it if it were not for said games.

That aside, I find it odd that if a man says he's a gamer, he then has no life . . . but if a woman is a gamer, she's still considered worthwhile. Sucks to be a man in this world I guess  .

I agree, people can be just as obsessive about other things as we can about games.

On an unrelated note... STOP JACKING MY AVATAR! I had it first!

(Well... if you really want it fine, but it's kind of confusing.)

Mission Accomplished XD

Actually I totally forgot ya had it, now maybe I can find a lord genome Icon sitting around somewhere...

No biggie. Actually I like the Lord Genome one you have now.

I've had this issue for a long time. My mother is an anti-gamer, and almost every female in my age group is an anti-gamer. Most strictly believe that if you are a gamer you are childish and immature, socially ret*d and a loser.

Of course, she admits to liking Twilight and is into those trashy romance books that you find at grocery stores. Take that as you will.

Would this be labeled as irony or hypocrisy? I can't tell. XD

As for the topic, I've never had anyone try to keep me from gaming entirely. I'll play 2 hours a day at most. My hands start to cramp up usually or I feel like doing something else. :)

People are welcome to be as stupid as they like.

I've always known that persuasion wasn't part of my calling.

On-topic: to be honest, I've encountered gamers who've definitely neglected certain key aspects of their lives to game more, the stereotype doesn't come from no where. But honestly, I fail to see how we as gamers fell below the reality-tvophiles.

In time the stigma will probably fade a bit. The amount of people who game is growing with each generation, games as we know them now are still pretty new,

indeed, gaming's rapidly losing it's stigma and becoming a much more mainstream medium.

I think that unless you're seriously neglecting other aspects of your life due to your gaming, it's definitely not something anyone should be calling you out on

Original poster, Darkword, and Dellingr, I agree you on this subject.

I've gotten it during interviews from idiot managers who would prefer to wear work/slave shackles at all times. God knows how they pull through life feeling sane, when it's all "work and sweat" mixed with one week out of a whole year for a relaxation period. Then again, who am I to say what they love to do to themselves?....................... :)

I've been a gamer since I was 3, and an addict as well. I don't like the preaching anyhow, because I have the common sence to stop when I should. Plus, it's extremly ignorant and displays the nay sayer as some kind of human sheep. To me, it looks like they think that what other people say must be the trueth about someone else if it's a popular idea, and that judgeing someone else is 'ok', and that nothing in print or video can lie to or "sway" the public. The mental follower, is really my point. They look like mental followers to me when they preach to me how life is "supposed to work".

Nobody ever cared about how hard I worked or how much I got done, or the fact that I repeatidly had to be ordered to take breaks during work simply because I hate them. I'm going to keep playing WoW because I am having trouble finding work, and I'm very bored. Unlike most females, I really love violence, gore and action. I like the puzzle stuff to, like Myst, Cubis and so forth. I play kids games to, but not sports.

I have played some crooked plot scenes, but wouldn't do 98% of it. Something had to be quite wrong long before they did the violent activity. "Oh no! He's playing one first person shooter game in his entire life! He's going to kill the school!" Oh please! Here you have the rest of us gore goers liveing like decent people. My full fledged delight for sneaky game thieves, could be an example. I'm not doing it if I can help it. I'd rather drown in boiling acid.

My mother and sister would be offended by getting called such things, because they aren't any of those.

Gee wizz, with those comments that I highlighted, and the ton of misspelled words in your post; it doesn't come to as a shock to me that your're unemployed.

Right back at you, grammar nazi. I'm guessing you've never heard of a little thing called dyslexia, which happens to be [edit] a comorbid condition for many on the autistic spectrum. Now the question is are you employed?

Yep making 40k a year Mr. White Knight. Yea I know what dyslexia is, a reading disorder. I think you should check into it.

And I can admit to making a mistake.

And don't think you can insult me with a term like white knight. I'm not ashamed to point out a hypocrite when I see one, or ashamed of being unemployed, or a gamer.

You enjoy your 40k a year. The benefits of being too spineless to stand up for a hobby you think you're something big in.

Oh, and

You missed one. Lecture me on reading disorders when you're qualified to do as low paid a job as data entry.

It's not being spineless, it's being smart. 40k can buy you tons of video games. I think you need to start spending all that energy you seem to have into going back to school, and you too can be rolling in the green like me champ.
