Well i have ALOT of good memories from all my games so i dont want to discredit them by picking the best few although Red Dead Redemption earns a place close to the top

Man, I can't believe that anybody mentioned Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time!

Yes, It may be old, but in its time was the best (IMO is still one the best games ever made). The graphics, the huge world, the music, the dungeons and their epic bosses, and the extremely entertaining and balanced playability makes it one of my favorites games ever. If you consider a gamer you should play it to see the meaning of "perfection" in a videogame.

Other classic game which I love is Parasite Eve, is a shame that has been so underrated because its story is awesome, the music precious and the battle system very good too.

I recently played many masterpieces in the PS2, in 1st place is Okami, an adventure game very similar to Zelda but set in a Japanese mithology world, with an corresponding and beautifully done artwork and music, the playability is also genius and the story and its end, simply outstanding.

The 2nd are the Persona series (Persona 3 and 4) of the same console, both are awesome JRPG games, with very original stories, charismatic and unforgettable characters, and an extremely fun and addictive playability.

That's all I can remember now.

Note: I don't want to be mean, But Jesus Christ! The DMC games are really fun, But no to consider them some of the best games of the history!

I see that many people here doesn't know too much about the old videogame eras (The PS1, Dreamcast and N64 era, and the ones of 2D consoles too) and are missing the oportunity to play excellent games that are even better than the modern ones.

Regards.

It has its flaws but I really enjoyed playing Phantasy Star Online for a long time.

I have many favourites, so many it's hard to boil down

Chrono trigger: deep story with a good mix of fantasy and sci-fi with a well-polished battlesystem. Akira Toriyama's (DB series) involvement was the icing on the cake.

the Final Fantasy series: Good stories throughout and insanely good graphics and design in the newer ones...

F.E.A.R: one of the few scary games that gets my adrenaline going... especially when playing in complete darkness with a good pair of headphones on... also fun weapons (nail gun) and good physics

Left 4 dead: again one scary shooter that has my blood pumping. I cannot complete more than one campaign before needing a break :)

the Civilization series: good, relaxing turn based gameplay with lots of approaches to given goals

Diablo I and II: very good story and ingame lore, the fluid gameplay and well-balanced items are great icing on the cake... can't wait for Diablo III

Portal: Because it's so different from pretty much everything, plus many of the ingame characters (turrets and GLaDOS for the most part) are well thought out.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series: well thought out game mechanics and general gritty feel they have gets me going. Realistic weapon behaviour and many places to explore is good icing on the cake

WipEout series (all except the first one, which is quite sucky): the series gets exponentially better the further along you get. Handling is well thought out (two airbrakes instead of a single brake button) and the weapons make the games quite fun and challenging.

Gran Turismo series: Very good bunch of games with good tracks, good AI, realistic cars and many good ways to tinker with different cars to reach good performance on the loads of tracks there are. I'm currently saving up for GT5.

Man, this is a toughy. I have a lot of games I really like. But if I had to pick just 1, I would go with Vexx every time. Vibrant world, beautiful music, and an amazing vibrancy make this game my #1 every time.

Stellar 7 (Apple II) - because it was the first game I had that had 3D graphics (though wireframe, but that was great back then) and it was darned hard

Elite (Apple II) - took the 3d (wireframe) graphics into space and basically had an unlimited (though somewhat repetitive) universe to explore

Half Life - because it took the 3d shooter to a different level of game play where the story was intricate and important, and the enemies used some decent tacticts against you

Half-Life 2 - more of the same, but on a much grander scale

Dune II - because the first real RTS and pretty immersive

Starcraft - took what Dune II had started and took it to a whole new level - great storytelling and online play

Falcon 4.0 - achieved what flight simulators (including its predecessors in the Falcon family) to that point had been missing - very thorough technical simulator of (most) of the details of flying a plane. And had a truely dynamic campaign.

Team Fortress 2 and Team Fortress Classic - because of different character classes and the need to compose teams and play the game in a way that the players must compliment each other.
War Thunder - brought mass-scale, online flight simulation and combat to the masses in a way that makes it accessible for everyone.
