the sound in minecraft you dislike
And when a Archer hits you from nowhere with his super scary arrow. *BROOUUNKK!!*
Worst scare I got was during day time, I got out of my house to build turned a corner and my heart stopped. I was new to MC and my Island where I live is infested with Green Boomers. It was only a pig.
i just had a pretty nasty scare a few days ago, i was down in this cave i found during diamond mining and i found a huge area with a giant lava pool, so i started doing some obsidian farming because i love the color black and i use the block as flooring.
anyway it wasn't long before i started hearing things everywhere, so i started digging to find out where they were, eventually i found a hole in the ceiling so i looked up and before i could blink a creeper fell right in front of me, i was lucky i had my crowbar mod on and in my hand when i reflexed and hit attack. the crowbar mod destroys anything in one hit so i got away with just a nasty scare.

Ooo that sounds like a heart stopper. But I don't approve of mods, I believe they make the game boring in the long run. And since this is a game where you create the objective except the primary of survival.
I'm still new to the game. I learn real fast but finding monsters when I hear 1000 moaning I still can't do. I often dig around like a crazed miner up down sides, when I don't find anything i get mad and go farm TNT. I got some pretty good scares last night, worst is the Skelly Arrows in a dark space you just walked in to. I've found a crazed canal of stuff and SLIME (that I read has no use but people use it as currency because apparently they are rare).
And I made a Nether portal and went in naked with just a flint and steel. Almost killed a Ghast with the flint and steel. Got him under a low roof and ran in a circle around him jumping and hitting. But he escaped and flew away. I need to learn where to find Diamond and valuables so I can make Diamond Gear and stop being so scarred ^___^. All I can afford of mass producing is Iron.
Need to leave now, Or I'd spew more.7
It's a great game.
Maybe you could give some pointers as to where I could find rare stuff or how to recognize it. I bet I've ran past a bunch off Spawn Fire Chambers.
Bye.

well most of the time i put mods into a game when i have beaten the game unaltered, by the time i started customizing minecraft i had already played it to death that it was getting boring. but i put mods in to more or less see what else the game is capable of and that goes for any game.
but you are right in that some people put mods in to cheat, i put them in out of curiosity.
well i have learned a few things about minecraft from researching it to death, the best way to find dungeons [the spawning rooms] is to toggle fog when you hear a ton of monsters, usually if you starting hearing more then 1 monster sound per second you might be near one, but you have to toggle fog with the hotkey mine is f i think p is default, but dungeons are really rare some places you won't find any for hundreds of blocks and then in some cases you will find 5 in one cave [been there done that it was a mine i made].
as for rare minerals, shaft mining is best you just dig till you reach bedrock any way you want i prefer a staircase or a straight down drop, the less you mine through the less tools you will be burning through. once you hit bedrock go back up about 14 or 15 blocks and start digging straight ahead 2 blocks high. once you reach a cave\lava pool\or anything that hinders you, go back out and dig another shaft two blocks to the left or right. if you dig every 2 blocks like that you hardly leave anything untouched. just don't make the mine to confusing like i did. i was a doubter when i saw this method, but i stopped doubting after i found a stack of diamond in only a few hours. not only that you will find coal\iron\gold\lapis\redstone, like crazy doing this.

Jeah that's a valid point. I started playing it a while ago after having heard so so much about it and it being recommended to me cuz I'm the "creative type". It's a hell of a game and for now I play solo to boost my skill then I'll join a server with friends or something...
Hmm,... I don't quite understand what effect or indicator toggle fog grants when activated. But I'll try it out and see what's up with how fog can help.
I've read about the block count but as I mentioned I'm still to green at MC. But it's a killer/solid way of clearing much ground. I'll be doing this, thank you.

when you toggle fog you can still see fire even if it's underground, so alot of fire in a small area shaped like a box is a dungeon.
sorry i couldn't get you the video link off of youtube about shaft mining, i tried to explain it the best i could.
but if you want to learn alot about minecraft just search on youtube for minecraft tutorials, there are a ton of them.

It's good now. You explained it perfectly.
Just got home from a shopping spree in town with a friend and the young ones are graduating so they are filling the streets with trucks screaming and honking and blowing horns.
My brain is mush but as soon as I regain my energy I'll be picking vertically till I reach rock bottom, 15 blocks up and fog.
This should be interesting doing it this way, and I have a feeling I'm going to find loads of veins and chambers.
But now I need to process my food and watch Simpsons.

After a while, I adjusted to the sounds of the game. The sounds are pretty extreme. They got me real jumpy.
yeah i still can't go to the the nether without getting spooked.
This.
And, of course, the hated SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
I also turned the music off because it creeped me the hell out. Not all sounds, just the eerie piano music.
I kinda like the random sounds and music in some respect. It adds to the character of the game. It also kinda gives you a reminder that the environment your in is never 100% safe. I've had creepers randomly appear in lightened area's before so it helps to have little things to stop you being complacent.
Anyway I'm on track building my little keep/small castle at the moment I'm going to start on a fortification wall around the Island I started on methinks.

The tactic works perfectly, I'm scared to death and adventurous at the same time. And I got a nice amount of minerals.
MC yuy!
so my advice helped, cool when i first heard of shaft mining i was doubtful at first, till i came back to my house\fort with 20 diamonds in one run. not to mention gold, iron, coal, redstone, and lapis.
right now i found an area right off my house that might be a skeleton dungeon, but i can't see the spawner, i guess i just gotta dig to find it.
The few times I actually play it I just turn the sound off.

i only turn the music off, i would get wasted in the caves if i couldn't hear anything.
True dat yo.
I found a place with over 100 mushrooms, freaked me out a bit. It's a really big place as well with monsters all over. It has to many nooks and passages so I had to cover them up with stone and signs on each. If I leave them open I'll get attacked constantly by stuff falling from my head, I believe there is a spawning box somewhere above me or even two. I have to take trips back and forth from the dig site, but now I've seen the endlessness of the cavern so I guess I'll have to build a little station somewhere.
Only thing that scares me is that I believe there is some kind of green boomer (creeper?) nest somewhere. I arrived once and I was met by 4 of them charging at me at the same time. Luckily I know how to prevent them from going boom, it's all about positioning and some well placed swift clicks at each of the mobs.
And yes I found a but load of diamond, gold and especially iron.
Hmm,... thinking about it I could go to the Nether and collect some red shrooms and I'll have food to last me a life time (shroom stew). And not to mention the stew really refills your HP.

yeah those overhead passages are a pain.
i found a huge cave right off my house where i thought there was a skeleton dungeon, i don't think i've even come across a dungeon yet, i'm kinda disappointed. two massive caves with tons of monsters but no dungeons.
i need something to reset my spawn point to my home, but i'm still playing on 1.5 so the bed doesn't work, and i can't update or i'll break my map. that means i've got to find a mod to do it.

I see, sounds tricky. I hated the bed spawn problem that sends you to the start of the map.
Jeah the caverns I found are huge and right now I'm lost so I just jumped up on a high place and save/quit.
I need to fill that place with lava and shut the "door" behind me. I don't believe there is anything there anymore other then mobs spawning in the dark.
