I don't know about the humor. Some of it worked in IV and some of it didn't. Some of their 'jokes' just weren't to my taste. Overall the story seemed 'good enough' to me, if a little short.

I must admit some of the missions did feel a bit repetitive in IV, however it did have moments but overall it does fall short compared to San Andreas and games like Red Dead Redemption in story in terms of story climax. I remember in San Andreas the climax building up to when you get betrayed by Big Smoke or when you reclaim your hood, I didn't felt IV had the same impact.

I think the physics are great in IV but I'd still have to say it was an unfinished game. I remember playing San Andreas or Vice City and being really excited about unlocking the next area of the map, I wasn't hugely impressed with the map in IV. I also felt with the dark, gritty atmosphere of Grand theft Auto, they could have made it more dark, brutal and violent like the New York City in Max Payne, I felt they should have emphasized more on the Niko vengeance theme. Sometimes the map and life simulation activities made me feel more like I was playing a videogame version of Friends instead of Grand Theft Auto.

Yeah, could have been better. They never really hit the full potential that the story and characters offered.

Why not GTA - London? Paris? Moscow? Singapore?

London was done twice, in the London 1961 and London 1969 expansion packs for the first GTA game.

As for Moscow, I personally had my fill of Russian Mafiya in IV, thanks...

Still dont want that. I remember steam accidentally kicking in after i had activated Magicka, that screwed up my Fallout Vegas install. I had to reinstall it just because i was on 3G, had crap connectivity and patching was out of the question. That is the reason why you as a consumer shouldn't have to be forced to use online features like patching if you do not want them.

If you disagree, i think we're not going to get much further in that discussion.

Forgot about that. But i do not count GTA 1 and 2, since they were just 2D and you do not experience them as you did in GTA3 and onwards.

This one looks cool (hopefully better than GTA IV). I wish they would make another sequel to Vice City (still set in the 80s), and maybe with some Caribbean locals as part of the environment.

Was that on PC or something? If so I don't really know much about it...

Am I the only one who thought GTA IV was outstanding?
And I have no doubt that this one will blow me away once more. To this day, San Andreas remains as not only my favourite GTA game, but my most favourite game of all time. If they can recreate the ambition and the scale that game had and mix it with the physics of IV, it will be a winner.

I thought the production values, physics, setting, atmosphere, immersion and storyline was very well done, I just thought for many people, it lacked the fun factor. Gaming should be an escape from reality, people don't want to go bowling or play darts, the activities could have been more fun, varied and humorous. I understand that customization was kept to a minimum because of the culture but it wouldn't have been hard to add different character and vehicle skins.

Then again, GTA IV was one of the first PS3 games I bought, I just remember stepping into Liberty City for the first time and being gobsmacked at the detail it had, and I didn't care that the freedom and scale was downgraded from SA.
Looking back now though, I consider Red Dead Redemption to be the better game on a more objective and personal level.
