There's no 'bad' mmo to cut your teeth on. TOR is about average on the 'noob-friendliness' scale.

You'd need to provide more information about your Dell, as they're usually customised. What are your system specs and OS?

I started playing prerelease on the server - The Fatman. The server is a bit full right now, but the pop should drop eventually.

Planning to make both imperial and republic characters. Game is awesome so far.

Servers are down for maintenance ATM, so I can't look up the name, but anyone else playing on the "Master Z" server? Only server that's "Master" with a Z name.

I find myself in a bind when it comes to this game.

On the one hand, KOTOR 2 is my favorite game of all time(I know Obsidian did it and not Bioware, but it is still relevant).

On the other hand, I have played many an MMO, and never have found one to my liking. Far too much dependance on the kindness of strangers for my Aspie self.

So my question is: how single-player friendly is this game? I know one has to play online, but can I avoid other people as much as possible and still succeed in the game?

So far I think it's great.

I always get lost in MMOs but if you open up the map, it fades as you run so you don't get lost.

There are plenty of single player missions.

If you have to do a group mission, since the game is young, you'll find alot of new players who won't get annoyed that you haven't played the group mission.

Under preferences, there are so many options to choose. Looting, I select area loot. Makes things easier.

You can also choose space missions once you get a ship which enables combat in space. Great solo mission but I'd advise you to upgrade your ship.

There are datacrons that scattered around. Boxes that give you bonus of permanent plus on your stats. I think that is neat.

I usually have difficulties with MMO's over getting lost and not being good in a group usually over getting lost. I'd have to say I like this MMO and the functionality of it doesn't make me feel like uninstalling.

You can also do flashpoints over and over.

Also like how it forces you to pay attention to your quests with audio dialog + text if that is enabled. In other MMO's, I don't usually pay attention to the walls of text. You can also select under preferences and user interface to show conversation alignment so you aren't stumbling over figuring out what choice is your goal.

You can send your crew out to perform tasks such as vendoring off your trash loot, doing skills that earn you different things depending on your skill. I have diplomacy and it earns alignment points. Have treasure hunting which can lead to coming back with treasure boxes with money, green loot, blue loot etc..so you get your money back and more at times.

When it comes to MMO's, there are always going to be updates to fix problems but for a game that just came out, I'd say it's pretty good functionally, graphically and has some options that I've always wanted in an MMO so it can be less frustrating.

While playing I thought "It's about time!"

I give it two paws up.
