Being a SEGA fanboy, I don't want a Dreamcast 2 as they are really struggling to survive. :(

They recently closed all of SEGA Europe AND Australia just to make ends meet. :(

What!?
Noooo! :(
Thats a shame.

Indeed it is. I kind of keep up on everything SEGA related.

Also, another thing that sucks. Anarchy Reigns comes out next year for the west despite the game being Region Free AND the Voice Overs are in the Japanes eversion!

So yeah....SEGA being SEGA again when it comes to current gen marketing.

Argh how annoying...
Yeah, Sega have never been good at marketing at all... Such a shame as Sega has huge potential backing them.

The new poster is right. SEGA do what Nintendon't! Shame Nintendo raised their Wii game. :3

Sadly SEGA will never go back into the console business, not because I don't want them too (because I would want more than anything for that) but because they are barely able to stay afloat right now as a software company so it would literally be impossible for them to try and go back into hardware.

With that said though I would love to see another company maybe try and break into the console business. Maybe Google perhaps?

Yeah, Google could do it. Although I wouldnt like to see it being another Onlive.
I have also caved in and bought a Dreamcast boxed for £40 today. Woop! :D

Well hey 40 isn't that bad at all :D. At least you don't have to pay money for any games if you have any CD-Roms lying around :D.

YES!! I think they really should reboot the dreamcast. Sega has been doing a little bit better with being a third partly, but let's be honest, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Phantasy Star(their two main franchises from before) really need to be updated. Also, think about it. Vectorman, and other games like that, deserve to be rebooted in a current 3d setting.

I think that's a good idea, however, the games really make the system.

For SEGA to become big again... they need to release a big-selling game.
Probably also a game genre you wouldn't expect SEGA to invest in because they can't just rely on Sonic to rake in money.

Sega will never be big again. Just this year they've had to cancel several game projects and have begun to restructure the company to be even smaller and more cost effective. Not many Sonic games are highly rated either. The company most likely to try to throw their hat into the next generation console gambit would be Valve. However, with digital distribution, the iOS market, and the rumors swirling around Nintendo's new console it'd be a very risky venture for anyone to try it. I think if the Wii U does well it'll ease that feeling of doom and gloom regarding the future of home consoles.

I'd rather Sega release Shenmue III. I've contemplated if I won the lotto just like...trying to buy Sega/bribe them into making Shenmue III.

But yeah, a Dreamcast II would be cool. I like Sega. The video game industry is gonna crash again, so Sega might have a chance to release something.

Shenmue III and Yakuza 5 please :) DC2 can wait. There's already 3 console marketers, and plenty of people competing on the handheld market now.

Nintendo, Apple, Google and barely Sony?. That's just one more than the consoles.

4 is still a large number, and remember there are 2 platforms still on shelves by Sony in the handheld arena. There's also the likes of MS trying to make their own mark (though drastically failing) with the introduction of Windows Phone 7.5-8 and Windows 8 on new devices like Surface. Then there's also SmartGlass by MS which again will try and push handheld media sales via a platform several smart devices can use.
