I've only played number 2, but I can safely say, one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life. I do have 3 and 4 though, will play them, eventually.

3 is really good. At the very least it has the coolest otherworld effects and the monsters are harder/more aggressive than 2. 4 is an acquired taste, some love it, some hate it, everyone agrees its a bit weird.

Walter has the most serious case of abandonment issues I have ever seen

I have played Homecoming and Downpour, and I think that I preferred Downpour. I was pretty scared from Homecoming, and I had to use a guide to play, well truth is that I was pretty easily frightened by horror games then, despite my age. I did much better with Downpour, but I think that it was that I have become better with not getting scared enough to quit playing, I think I found that the scary bits were easier turned into fun as well, although I wanted more bosses. I also purchased the third game on PS2, only really got to the subway.

Other than that I have looked through the internet as I found the universe interesting, well mostly learning a lot about the background information from the wiki site. I was also quite happy to finally find the DVD of the movie, even if it is not what fans want.

Try finding #2, its regarded by many as the best in the series. It and 1 are my favorites, 1 is on the psn if you have a ps3.

I suppose that I was thinking about getting the HD one for 360, but at the moment I have kind of gotten out of horror games for the moment, and I just happened to get the PS2 game of the nomber 3 so it would feel a bit like wasted money, and putting the all of the trouble of looking through a bunch of stores go to waste. So it is my pride as a gamer partially holding me back, and I have kind of gotten out of sinc with that side since I actually thought Dead Space 2, a game I got recently, was pretty new game.

I know that the second game is supposed to be good, I have already looked at a bunch of the information connected to it, kind of hard not to see spoiler when trying to find out all of the little background information.

I might as well use the thread to post some thoughts on the series, especially that I keep wondering what it is that drives the entity Silen Hill. Is it ancient spirits or gods? Why does it torture some, but try to help others? Does it maybe actually evolve as the people live there, absorbing traits so that you could say it has one thousand different faces, personalities, wants and supernatural forces. Also wondering what exactly the significance of the Devil's Pit was, or other sites.
