I'd say that for me it depends on the game in question. If I'm playing a good game, I tend to get that feeling of falling down a rabbit hole, and finding myself in another world. Whether it's a wonderland of sorts, or a post apocalyptic world, or something else entirely, it's still a world other than my own, and I can take comfort in that. I also feel empowered. I have not only saved countless worlds and universes, but I have defeated gods. If some foolish mortal thinks he can stop me with a giant robot, he's sadly mistaken. 8) I may be average, if slightly disadvantaged in the real world, but in the world of gaming, I might as well be omnipotent, given some of the opponents I've taken out on the path to victory. When a game provides a challenge, I just remind myself that I can overcome it, and I feel even more empowered when I finally do.

Erm i dont really feel anything at all tbh - but im assuming that maybe i am i just arent getting that message? If ive finally worked my around to that annoying sniper tahts been picking off my team for the last 30 mins, and ive toddled up to him, fired a shot to get his attention then when he turns round hit him with both barrels and launched him out the window of his little roost, then for some reason i will shout out "COMON!! !!" at volume.
Presumably this is satistfaction / elation at being useful or something.

It depends on the game, interested, entertained, excited, confused. I have replaced my xbox controller twice due to unfortunate 'accidents'

As I'm playing XCOM, I'm nervous as hell when I'm doing choices!
I've started to really care for my squad members and have been doing missions as carefully as humanly possible!
If one of them dies, I'm gonna be sad and pissed at myself...

I feel like I'm competent, like I'm dealing with issues that are meaningful and purposeful, like I have the means to explore a world freely, like other people respect me and want to be around me.

Other things depending on the actual game.

I feel at peace when I'm playing a game, especially one that I'm fond of (Halo, Skyrim, Mass Effect, to name a few). Unfortunately, I start to feel irritated when I'm seperated from the games for a long time, which is not good news at all. It seems that the farther I am from games, the easier it is to be away from them. Does anyone else experience that feeling?
