PC versions of games also on consoles usually have much higher minimum system-requirements than the consoles hardware specs.

Perhaps, but its not like you'd be losing actual quality seeing as they're having to downscale new games since these old consoles can't handle the full thing anyway.

Mass Effect 3 on a 3 year old $300 laptop is going to look far far worse than Mass Effect 3 on the 360. You can't compare their specs directly, they are completely different types of CPUs and memory and running different operating systems. Windows has a hell of a lot more overhead than the Xbox 360 interface, plus with consoles developers have the benefit of knowing exactly what hardware they are developing for as opposed to trying to make it compatible with a wide range of hardware setups on PCs.

You can play Mass Effect 3 on that laptop?

Hypothetically, looking at the XBOX 360's specs.

What exactly are the specs of this $300 laptop anyway?

Also, the Wii U has native 1080p resolution. The 360, on the other hand (despite the hype), only goes up to 720p with the exception of about 6 games that nobody buys ("Boogie Bunnies," anyone?). Basically what I'm saying is that the Wii-U will require a bit more power to run the same games.
