This jerk, on the other hand... Mainly brought it up because while I loved or at least tolerated most of the social links from P3 (can't really say anything about P4 since I've only watched, not played it), there were a few I really couldn't stand.


Ah, I see. I was looking at all the other series one day when I was bored, but none of them really interested me.

Digital devil saga is worth it but hard to find. Nocturne well.... I played it a few weeks ago and do not even remember 1/10 of what I played.

I'm a HUGE fan of the MegaTen games and spinoffs. I've played through p3 and p4 (and p4g), nocturne, and digital devil saga 1 and 2.

I can't say I dislike any p3 or 4 characters, but I wish they had done more with some of them. Like fuuka and ken in p3, or kenji and naoto in p4.

The philosophy that goes into these games fascinates me. P4G's jungian lessons are great. And Nocturne's "choose your own" quality is cool, too.

P.S. I have yet to beat the demi fiend in dds2. Whoops me everytime.

When you say "Persona", OP, I immediately assumed you meant 3 and 4, even though Persona 1 and 2 were good in their own right (negotiating with enemy demons to get their cards to use later? Yes please.)

But all you kids care about is straightforward RPG gameplay anyway

Because no one's posted in this thread for a while, thought I'd ask a question of you all.

What mythology do you think P5's going to be based around? They've already done Greco-Roman (P3) and Japanese (P4). What's next in your opinion?

Personally, I think they're going to go with Indian, though an acquaintance of mine suggested Norse as a possible way to go. I definitely don't think they're going to do Christian, for a number of reasons.

Actually, wasn't the final boss of SMT2 (Otherwise known as YNVH, I think...) a parody of the Christian/Catholic/Muslim god?

I wouldn't know. I haven't played any of the SMT games.

They have done some Christian mythology stuff in Persona (the various demons, the angels, Namatame, etc.), I just don't think they'll ever go farther than simply alluding to it.

I guess the reason I'm thinking Indian is that they already have quite a few Indian personas. It'd be pretty easy to pick them up and re-work them, though I guess you could say the same for Chinese personas.

I like all Shin Megami Tensei games that I've played. Persona is a good series but I'm most excited for the first new proper game in the SMT series since Lucifer's Call aka Nocturne. It's Lucifer's Call in Australia.
