Launching their attack in the dead of night, the fleet of Dark Eldar slid from the skies with the grace of an eagle.
Unfortunately for them the Space Marines were lying in wait for them, having camped out all night with senses alert.
Unable to launch a barrage into the inky blackness, the Thunderfire Cannon crewman cursed his impotence as the missile launchers screamed around him, peppering the Dark Eldar Venom transport vehicle with an explosive bombardment of shells.
Before the crew even knew what was happening or could move to react, their vehicle was smashed into pieces... throwing out shrapnel which violently killed all of the crew of the Venom except one.
Cowering in the wreckage, the sole Trueborn remaining set his teeth and was initially prepared to stand his ground.
But as the giant flying deathships around him began to retreat, Ga'RRuth the Trueborn thought better of it and took his chance to disappear like a shadow back into the depths of night, while he still had the ability to do so.
Damn those Space Marines.... nobody had ever got the jump on their fleet at night before. Somebody must have tipped them off. Ga'RRuth spat on the ground.... damn, with Dark Eldar society being as it was it could have been any number of traiterous back-stabbing mercenaries who had sold them out for a bit of extra money or power in return ; for they had surely been turncoated, to have been shot down like that in spite of their exceptional night vision and stealth. There was no other rational explanation for it.
