Well yeah, they're kind of a pain in the arse.
They're excessively expensive, unless you get one of the cheap flimsy sort.
They're unnecessarily cumbersome and unwieldy.
They involve an excessive amount of movement in order to do pretty much anything with them.
They're no more sensitive, functional or durable than a standard Xbox 360 or PS3 controller.
And they have stupid clattery buttons.

Yeah, all of that stuff, heh. All of which I generally agree with. Usually the reason for me to use one is with the shmups, as the thing essentially forces me to slow down, curtailing my usually berserk movements a bit. That and it's good for proper arcade games. Pro fighting game players though are absolutely in love with these things. They will swear up and down that arcade sticks utterly outdo the precision and such of any controller ever. Try to argue the point and the f-bombs will start to drop. Fascinating mentality, really. It does make it funnier to beat them with a controller though.

This one though is a little different:

That monstrosity is the one I have. Aside from weighing about a zillionty pounds, it is *huge*. I have trouble just moving the thing. Cant fit on my desk or anything either, way too big. I'd LOVE to construct a cabinet around it though and jam a PC inside to run Mame; that'd be awesome. Might try to do that soon actually. My other arcade stick is more of a normal one, though it's still expensive, and large as compared to other normal sticks. Not as bloody pricey as the X-Arcade one though, which cost about $200.

As for the Logitech one.... I've not had good experiences with their stuff in the past. I had a controller made by them that was almost that exact model in the pic there, and it..... ehhh. It just wasnt very good, and the funky part is that it was hard to determine WHY it wasnt very good. Eventually it just outright died. Same sort of thing with a mouse I had from them. That mouse was all sorts of strange. Never worked quite right from day 1. Ditched that one and bought a bizarro mouse made by Madcatz, one of those really weird looking "rat" ones. THAT is a good mouse. So freaking weird looking, as it kinda looks like someone jumped up and down on it and then tried to jam the pieces back together, but very, very good overall.

:L i use DS3 Tool. just run it and the PS3 controller MUST be plugged in... no bluetooth receiver alternatives.

I actually use my Microsoft game pad (a game pad... made by Microsoft... compatible with both XBox and PC) which requires a simple download directly from Microsoft so it's fairly easy. But I have tested alternatives due to games such as Resident Evil 6 being (what i call) In room Multiplayer meaning my twin bro could play at the same time in co-op. I assure you, with enough Patience (hahaha) and a few youtube "How To..." videos, you should get it working fine.

You need the converter, THEN it's plug n' play.

Not affiliated it was just the first one that appeared on google. Search USB PSX

Fighting games are much easier with a stick, especially Street Fighter, since almost all the moves involve rolling the joystick.

Well yes, obviously you would need to have a method of plugging it into a PC in the first place.
They're not exactly expensive though, as brand-new convertors tend to be under £4 - even including postage.
