(le shrug) I have several official Xbox 360 wireless controllers.
None of them have any problem with the batteries not fitting properly - both the official battery packs and some cheapskate ones which I got off Ebay work just fine, and last for hours between charges.
The buttons (and also analogue sticks) are just as responsive as they ever were.

I don't see how the type of hard-drive used makes any difference to whether or not an Xbox 360 can play Xbox games.
At any rate, the original 'leet' fat-arse Xbox 360 plays various Xbox games perfectly well.
Of course, if they're the ones which require a brief download in order to work then you would need to have somewhere to save the data.

I'm gonna say the PS3, because it's proven to be cheaper to buy than the Xbox and I have yet to see one catch something along the lines of the Red Ring of Death.

The problem with the PS3 (Especially the old fat one with the spiderman movie font) is that it does have a RROD equivalent (the YLOD). The problem with the fat PS3 is that the adhesive they use to glue the components together is of awful quality and tends to give out over time due to overheating. I have an old 60GB PS3 thats YLOD'ed and i can't use it. I've heard theres a fix using a cardboard box and a hairdryer but often its not a permanent solution.

Apparently the PS3 slim and PS3 superslim have improved ventilation and YLOD resistance. I've bought a PS3 slim last year and its still holding out well.

If I had to pick between the two, I would pick the PS3 because it has more interesting games that are unavailable on the PC.

I didn't know that could happen. I do know I've had my PS3 for nearly 4 years and it works very well, and that the God of War games were a good reason to get one.

One positive thing about the PS3 is that since it uses blu-ray discs and those discs are more scratch resistant than your typical DVDs, buying preowned PS3 games could be viewed more of a safer bet than DVD based games.

And to the other PS3 fans, I cannot believe you neglected to state that the PS3 can use the 2.5" notebook hard drives and in that fashion, having one or two TB drives would be possible with the PS3.

I think I'll put this excellent point in a simpler way.

The hard drive for a PS3 is just a small lap-top hard drive. Simple as that. The one in mine was made by Toshiba, and I have a spare one just in case.

This makes fixing most issues (such as an update loop [hate those] or deleted start-up data) a piece of cake, because you can just pull out the hard drive, insert it into a computer, wipe it clean, put it back into the PS3, plug a USB drive with the update data on it into the PS3, turn on the PS3, and essentially "update" your PS3 into working condition again. That's how I managed to save mine, and I know almost next to nothing about computers.

So let me get this straight. In the almighty wisdom of Sony, no backwards compatibility for PS3 on PS4. You bastards! How could you! Say it ain't so, Sony. Do not make me come down there and smack some sense into you! lol.

Anyways I digress because I prefer XBox 360 at this point since my PS3 is dead. But if I get a new console it will be PS4. And I would love to have backwards compatibility so I can finally play The Last of Us. I never got to play it and I am sad.

XBox One will have no backwards compatibility, either.

The Wii-U does have backwards compatibility to Wii games, so it can be done. Nice feature, but the Wii-U seems to be having so many other issues with 3rd party devs I don't think I can recommend it. (My son has one, and we've had a lot of fun w/stuff like Skylanders Giants, etc., but even w/the price drop I just don't see a compelling reason to get one.)

I bought a black 360 slim, only to find that it did not come with a hard drive. The white one's hard drive will not fit in the black one, no way. We were forced to choose between purchasing a new hard drive or living without one, which is fine as long as you don't want to install games or play original Xbox games. I don't know where you got the idea that you could put just any hard drive into the current-gen 360 console, but I would not recommend trying that!

My son's XBox 360 only had a 4 GB HD, so I got him 250 GB Ext HD for about $80, and it seems to work fine. Since I'm not the most technically inclined, I got a MS official one, but there are generic ones out there for less money if you're willing to run the risk of some kind of incompatibility.

And he's the sort who d/l's all kinds of ridiculous games plus demos from the store.

BTW, I didn't realize you could even buy an XBox 360 w/no HD. Could you even do something like the "campaign" to a Halo game without one?

I've always preferred the PS3 for features services and cost but in terms of the network, and FPS games I'd go for XBOX.

There's also just a little more variety on the PS3 than there is with the Xbox 360. The only reason I really use my PS3 more than my Xbox 360 is simply because I have more games for my PS3.

PC. I don't play all the "mainstream" games anyways, so I choose PC.

 He wasn't asking about PCs, though.

I would like to add that the batteries for the Xbox 360 controller are infinitely better than the one for the PS3 controller.
Here is why I say this -

(1) Xbox 360 controllers are NiMh whereas PS3 controllers are LiIon batteries.

(2) As a result of this, the Xbox 360 ones hold a charge MUCH better over periods of time when not in use.

(3) Xbox 360 batteries are easily replaceable, whereas the PS3 ones clearly are not without major electronic surgery and suchlike.

(4) As my recently deceased toy helicopter demonstrates, if you don't regularly charge LiIon batteries (like, every month or so) then they can end up dead and unsalvageable.
This really sucks. Even frequently charged LiIon batteries tend to lose charge more quickly than NiMH ones.
Even Sony acknowledge that your controller is likely to be junk after 2 or 3 years, because of the constantly dropping capacity of the battery.

(5) As soon as you plug in a completely dead Xbox 360 controller/battery combo, the thing just works. Right away.
As my PS3 controller is presently demonstrating.... it does not. God knows how long it has to sit there and charge before it can be used.
I charged it up fully, but then never used it for a couple of months... and now it's completely flat-lined, with just a little light flashing red while it charges up.
It's barely been used too, it's not like this is some worn out Sixasix piece of crap or anything.
For comparison, one of my Xbox 360 controllers which has been unused for about as long (because I couldn't find it) still has a nearly full charge !
And the battery in it has had a lot more use than the Sixasis one, by a long way.

(6) You can charge up Xbox 360 controller batteries without them being contained in the controller.
This results in a high potential for 100% accessible wireless functionality.
As soon as the PS3 battery runs out, the damn thing needs to be plugged in until it's charged for a while.

Well, having distracted myself by writing all of this I shall now see whether my Sixaxis is finally working again now.
8)

It came with the built-in "memory unit," as Microsoft calls it, which is just about large enough to hold your profiles and DLC for your games, if you have a dozen or so, plus save game files. There's no impact to multiplayer AFAIK, however.... The "memory unit" is distinctly different from the "hard drive," according to customer service, and only the "hard drive" serves the function of patching original xbox games to play on the xbox 360, as well as allowing the user to install games to the console as opposed to reading off the disc. That was the only reason I even bought a "hard drive." I didn't really need that much space, because I'm not big on installing my games to the console. It felt like a waste of money when I realized they didn't patch Sudeki :( .
I'm seeing posts talking about rechargeable batteries in the controllers, which sort of surprises me, because my controllers use two AA batteries. I like that about them. Also, the reason I'm not comparing xbox 360 vs. PS3 in my posts is that I've never owned nor played on a PS3.
