I don't care whose Army you compare to even the toughest video game, it is not even close. The military is a place where there are no children, or if there are, they cease to be children real fast. Video games encourage playfulness and the ability to explore a setting apart from our past, as we did when we were children. The same could be said for board games. You know that, I think.

See, this makes no sense to me. I have encountered a lot of other women in games, to the point that I'd say my experiences come fairly close to the 45% of video gamers are women statistic. I am not even talking about that attempt of yours above to locate women playing only certain categories of games.

Your comments about "games are very much like sports or the military" are nonsense. Women play these games and we play them in significant numbers.

Well what is the goal in videogames? More often than not, especially in team-oriented videogames the players act as unit where strategy and tactics are needed in order to achieve an objective...boys want to do this much MUCH more than girls do as it imitates the military, something that has been male-oriented since the dawn of man... Women much prefer things that are more oriented towards creating and cultivating, such as puzzles and social media games (which is just as important a function).

The goal of spending money on buying a videogame and playing it with friends is usually to have fun with your friends. Dont know if you scream upon yourself in pseudo-military habbit, but I swear you, it is without problem possible to play games like Battlefield or MMORPGs-instances for success AND have fun with it, without anything military thing like. Working and playing efficient is something that is done in every job, not only in the military. ^^ If I got by playing random into a squad, that thinks to shout at each other in military style, I would not be intimidated, but would be amused about people, not understanding the goal of an game = spending a good time. ^^

Being concentrated for certain goals =/ military.

I love video games. I don't really care about which console I use or if I'm playing on PC. I've been into playing my 3DS for awhile or PC games.

I think that do or die mentality is contrary to what women have, which is to nurture a deficiency, and I think that is VERY good thing to have since we don't have to rally soldiers to fight off the injuns/mongol hordes like in the past... but I think that might be way women aren't often involved, games are too bloody/team oriented, they don't want to destroy, they want to create.

Your post made me lol. I love destroying things. I love gore. I've always hated dolls or "girl" toys; I would constantly play with my male cousins' toys. My fiance loves creating; he isn't into war games as much. I sure hope you aren't referring to all women. I know numerous women that play similar games to myself. A lot of women DO play social games, so I agree that it's popular right now, but so do men. I've seen men and women addicted to games like Farmville, etc. Now that I've read the previous page, I see that someone has also addressed the posts you've made. I'll just leave my post as is. There isn't anything more for me to say.

I don't play any social media oriented games or have a smart phone.

I play the mmorpg I play like it's a single player game, rarely interacting with anyone.

Not sure why people think I said that it's IMPOSSIBLE for women to enjoy certain games. As I never said anything of the like (which really makes all of these "But I play these games all the time!" posts moot points. My point was the men are much more inclined to them because it taps into his nature, something he's been bread for since his existance, thus the higher male-density.

I have no idea what people are tying to argue with, or where anyone got any sort of mysogynistic impression. :? I said nothing inflammatory of any sort anywhere.

I don't really like social media games. I don't like MMOs either. Neopets is the only online game I play. I prefer to play alone when it comes to other games.

I love Pokemon. I still haven't picked up Pokemon X yet. I've been playing Duke Nukem Forever.

I run a guild in Guild Wars 2, and if I had to estimate, I'd say that probably 20-30% of the people I recruit turn out to be female players.

Ditto. I'll add on two more games from the Elder Scrolls series, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, and one more that I can't seem to remember for some reason.

People dont argue with you, that you would have written it was impossible for woman to enjoy the games because of them so "military-behavior" based.

But the argue with you about that there is no such thing like that "military behavior" issue.

So I dont enjoy the games although the military-behavior stuff, but because of never being confronted in my whole game history, that I would have forced to like "military behavior" stuff, when playing such games. ^^
