I have a love/hate relationship with narrative-driven games. Most of the ones I've played are boring and have too many cutscenes, so they lose my attention quickly, but once in a while, I'll come across one that does things right, and I'll enjoy it. XIII is one of the few narrative-driven games I've played that I've actually enjoyed, and I was really bummed when I found out that there was likely never going to be a sequel. It would have been one thing if it had a normal ending, but it ended with a cliffhanger, basically implying that a sequel was to be made. But that never happened. I don't know who owns the rights now, but whoever does better get off their ass and FINISH THE FRICKIN' STORY. I'm dying to know where it goes!

For me it varies with each game, really. I remember games that I've played almost entirely because of how it entertained me through it's story and the complete opposite also happens.
If the game have a story that is good enough to keep up my interest then I'll really appreciate, but the overload amount of cutscenes and bad dialogue can ruin it for me too.
I think that if I could rate how much each part of game matter the most for it would be something like (on a VERY general standpoint):
70% combat/soundtrack/gameplay elements in general
30% story/plot
It's something that in most cases will not be the main factor for me to play or do not play a game , but definitely is something that I like when it's decent and can make a difference in how much I appreciate it.
The problem is that most nowadays games focus too much on trying to tell a OMG AWESOME SURPRISING BLOCKBUSTER STYLE story to the point that they forget what a game should be. I think everyone here is aware of the latest case of this (The Order 1886). A game that had such an intense advertising campaign through the lasts months and is by far one of the most boring things I've ever played.
