Here is a game I would consider underrated along the same lines: Dragon's Dogma. Capcom's first rpg game like this and it's got some really nice battle mechanics you don't see in other similar games, it's got some weight to it and you can do some really funny stuff, like kicking/throwing other players. On top of this, it's got a nice difficulty curve and the voice acting/story is so bizarre and bad that it's actually quite funny.

My biggest highlight from this game was when a very old and feeble version of the king decided he wanted me dead, so I killed him by throwing bottles and other junk inventory at him from across the room. I couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes.

It's biggest issues are that it isn't very intuitive, the menus can sometimes be a pain and there's a quest that fails or succeeds at random that can result in a very useful and unique vendor getting wiped from your game. Other than that, it's a lot of fun.

I agree!
I had some problems while playing it, specially about how the story is developed and told (it was very bad), but, despite those mistakes, it is a really good game that do not deserve the bad notes it received. I think that the fact that Skyrim was still one of the main things people were playing during that time and Dragon's Dogma did some things that looked like it has also influential in its bad reception.

I guess the Pikmin games are pretty underrated although I've now seen small plushies of Pikimim at Wal-Mart. All the intelligence, creativity and depth of the characters, stages and enemies and yet we mainly see tons of Angry Birds and Minecraft merch.

Spy Fiction for the PS2. Its a sort of Metal Gear Solid style game. I thought it was brilliant and was extremely underappreciated.

SaGa Frontier was a very underrated Squaresoft rpg that I played a lot of. Its biggest sin was lots of non-linearity and kind of high difficulty curve for certain bosses. It was slammed at release by gaming magazines, except for EGM, but I think people now have warmed up to it and its more of a cult hit.

Parasite Eve 2 was pretty underrated too, a lot of people hated the game because it was so different from the original. I can forgive a lot of PE2's flaws because it had a really spooky atmosphere and had some awesome monsters. I can really forgive a lot of games if I like their atmosphere and monster design.

Nightmare Creatures (on PSX and N64) - That game was my childhood right there. Too bad not alot of people know what this game is. Its had good gameplay and soundtrack. Types of monsters you fight, you can use different attacks against them depend on which two characters your using. for example, Some attacks can instant kill in one hit depend on what you fighting against. It's a pretty good horror hack n slash game.

Road Rash (PSX) - Great motorcycle combat racing game. Another game from my childhood. I still play this game till this day. You can race from different locations like the City to the Pacific road to Sierra. Using different types of weapons like from fist to Chain to Baseball bat.

Two other game titles that are underrated (based on the lack of new titles in both series):

F-Zero

Worms

Mercenaries-the first was amazing though it was a little glitchy, the second wasnt quite as good as the first but it had new stuff to use,the third got canceled witch resulted in at least one dissapointed consumer.

Dai senryaku, modern military tactics-this is one of my all time favirite games and im so upset its not comming to north america,i stumbled upon it one day and was hooked, when the second came out i got it the day it was released and it was just a kind of update.some new units and maps but i didnt care.I feel like they let me down not bringing the new one on the ps3 over here but buisness is buisness i guess.

Both Heroes of might and magic 4 and 5 are amazing games. Never understood the hate for this 2 games. Heroes 1, 2, 3 and 6 are better, but that does not mean that 4 and 5 sucks.

The music in Heroes of might and magic 4 is probaly the best that have ever existed in a game.

Another underated game is Counterstrike-Global Offence. To me, this is the best Counter-strike so far. By a land mile.

"Blaster Master" is a truly remarkable game for the NES, but all its greatness was wrecked by the lack of any save function. The cartridge has no battery or password system, so the only way to complete the game is in one sitting. Its infuriating, but also sad; the simple addition of either save method would've placed it on the same level as the "Metroid" series.

I'm a big fan of point-and-click adventure games, which in itself is a massively underrated genre, especially since 2000 when they fell out of the mainstream. By "point-and-click adventure games", I mean stuff like 'Monkey Island', 'Myst', 'King's Quest', etc., but those are all classics.

If I had to go through a quick list of underrated titles in my head, I'd think 'Beneath a Steel Sky', 'I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream', 'Sanitarium', 'Blade Runner', 'Simon the Sorcerer', 'Callahan's Crosstime Saloon', 'The Colonel's Bequest', 'Titanic: Adventure Out of Time', er...huh, I'll have to look over my CD-ROM collection to single out a few more.

I'm also a massive fan of FMV games. You know, that period from the mid-'90s when game developers thought that including live-action actors and cutscenes in video games was going to be the future of gaming? Unfortunately, coupled with the software limitations of the time and the generally low quality of production and acting, they fell by the wayside and are largely seen as the laughingstock of gaming.

However, the 'Tex Murphy' series, 'Gabriel Knight 2', 'Black Dahlia' and 'Realms of the Haunting' were all good enough to redeem its reputation.

Spec Ops: The Line. The ultimate subversion of military shooters. Maybe not "underrated" since critics freaking loved it, but not very widely known. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy shooters but get sick of the dumbness in games like Call of Duty and Gears of War.

I've been meaning to play this one for a while. It's been out for a few years so it should be cheap by now.

Ghost Master for the PC
I don't think many people have hear of this game.
I love this game. It's one of my favorites. It is kind of like The Sims but with some strategy game-like elements.
It's game play is very unique and different from most games.
I also loved the concept of a game where you control ghosts to scare people.

I love 'Full Throttle', though I think of all of LucasArts' adventure games, 'The Dig' is probably the most underrated. 'Day of the Tentacle' still reigns supreme as arguably the greatest adventure game of all time.
