My TV is bigger than that, but let's say I'm comparing a really good DVD to decent BluRay, I have to wear my glasses and sit within ten feet or so to notice the difference.
Videogames, it's different, because it depends on how the UI and everything is designed. Obviously, 360 games that were designed with very little regard for SD (like Dead Rising), the text is just going to be far too tiny to read on an SDTV.

Computers don't really work that way, HD vs. SD is more of a thing for television broadcasting standards. Although they do make monitors and graphics cards that promise HD video compatibility (or whatever), that has nothing to do with your screen resolution. It just means that your hardware can perform the HDMI handshake DRM, which is supposed to keep people from pirating BluRays using analogue bypass.
