i'm have good expectations, but I'm a console only gamer. as for graphics. I don't really see the different between 480 and 1080 none the less 4k or 5k. so i've never understood why everyone is so focused on it. I also love games like bf4 and can't wait for battlefront and bf5. so :P

If you can't tell the difference between 480p and 1080p, then honestly you need to get your eyes checked.

If you're gaming on a TV that is 30" or less in size, then you probably won't notice difference between 720p and 1080p.
You'll also struggle to tell the difference between 1080p and 4k+

But if you sit directly in front of your TV like a PC, then you should easily be able to tell the difference.

had 32" SDTV and upgraded to a 39" LED. really not that much of a difference. though I don't sit with them side by side.

There is a huge difference.. your tv's probably are not delivering the resolutions you think they are. Have you seen the games in a computer monitor ?

TVs are now catching up to laptops and desktops in resolution.
You laptop probably matches your TV in resolution, unless you have a 4k+ TV.

Computer screens don't have the HD moniker label on them.

My TV is bigger than that, but let's say I'm comparing a really good DVD to decent BluRay, I have to wear my glasses and sit within ten feet or so to notice the difference.

Videogames, it's different, because it depends on how the UI and everything is designed. Obviously, 360 games that were designed with very little regard for SD (like Dead Rising), the text is just going to be far too tiny to read on an SDTV.

Computers don't really work that way, HD vs. SD is more of a thing for television broadcasting standards. Although they do make monitors and graphics cards that promise HD video compatibility (or whatever), that has nothing to do with your screen resolution. It just means that your hardware can perform the HDMI handshake DRM, which is supposed to keep people from pirating BluRays using analogue bypass.

This is pretty depressing. TV stinks, movies stink, so I guess video games are next. When I was younger I was amazed and delighted by some of the advancements in video games, like in the late 16-bit era when when characters started having personalities and animations like cartoon characters, and the 32-bit era that had music and voices that sounded real instead of synthetic. But now it's like bleah, yawn, only the old games are good now. Oh well, at least I can still enjoy them and it's a lot cheaper. Most modern games I like are really just "casual" or revamped versions of older games.

I expect what I expected last gen out of games: a dozen or so high quality titles by the time the generation is over that I can say I enjoyed a lot. I have cautious hope for FF15 and Bloodbourne and Silent Hills are going to be system sellers for me. I'll buy a wii-u down the road for the new Zelda too because that's nearly guaranteed to be a hit with me.

Everything else this gen will just be a bunch of military themed fps'es,terrible movie cash ins and bland realistic action games with no appeal to me whatsoever. I expect the bulk of my video games purchased to be for my portables over consoles, like last gen.

I'm excited for what Japan will put, they make 90% of the series or games I like.
