Zelda is supposedly racist
xenocity,
Japanese cartoons and video games tend to have characters with various skin shades, various hair colors (to include unnatural hair colors such as green and purple), and eye colors. (For skin color, there is actually overlap between Japanese and white people, as well as a fair amount of variance in the Japanese population.) I don't think that a whole lot can be read into the use of these colors, especially to try to declare a character as white.
For Japanese viewers and players, that hair and eye colors are used which naturally are rare in Japanese people doesn't necessarily mark characters as non-Japanese. It's kinda like that example of Marge Simpson, who has friggin' yellow skin and a blue afro! Yet Americans largely see her as white!

I will say my thought again. Just we never hear characters speak with no definable language, the Hylian race is not like any real race in particular. In general Hylians can have varied skin colour, with hair that up to and includes blonde, their eyes often look a little narrower, but not always, and their culture is often more western medieval, but they might include more oriental, or parts that are different all together.
In general, Hylians are elves, even if some don't even have the ears, they are no race in particular, and that is fine.

how the heck do you see Ganon as an elephant when he's always been a freaking pig demon?
....side note, they should totally add classic pig demon Ganon ( ALTTP style preferably imo ) to Smash Bros so we can have a Ganon that actually represents the character instead of being a clone

Wouldn't it be great if Ghiranim was playable in Smash? His side special could be sticking his tongue out and hitting the opponent or something silly and awesome like that! His final smash could be unleashing his true form.

Hyrule Warriors!
Ghirahim is actually one of my favourite characters in the game.

Well technically he pig Ganon is in the game as a final smash.

Also, I think Hyrules Warriors was one that also did quite well with him. (and playable)

Beast Ganon from Twilight Princess is in Smash as Ganondorf's Final Smash, yes....what I want is the CLASSIC version of Ganon, particularly the A Link to the Past version ( my favorite design, wielding a trident ). You're right about Hyrule Warriors though, I love the way both Ganondorf and Ganon are done there.
Speaking of Hyrule Warriors, we're getting more characters with the 3DS Legends version...so far they've confirmed Tetra, Toon Link and the King of Hyrule, but they've also confirmed there are others being added too ( and if you have both versions you can link them up to unlock the NEW characters on Wii U ). I'm hoping we get Vaati as a new villain to play as....

My point is, you can find fault with anything as long as you look at it hard enough.
There is no intent of racism or sexism here, just some people getting worked up over nothing.
Also quite a few women have been on the development teams on the past Zelda games, while Nintendo employs more women than the rest of the gaming companies.
Resident Evil 5 had a huge uproar over claims of racism, because the game set in Africa and you shoot mainly black people who are infected with the virus.
The problem people had was the fact the two main characters were white and the lack of shootable white people.
Funny enough the previous games were mainly white people being shot.
Was RE5 racist? No, it was set in Africa where most people are black.
Since then Capcom has gone out of its way to make sure black people aren't in Resident Evil series over fears of racism.
No one had an issue with the games set in Asia.
Anyways Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans have long been obsessed with how white people look.
That's why a lot of their media shows white looking people.

People calling it racist is just stirring up the hornet's nest for no reason. Then again Salon and sites like that tend to produce SJW-friendly articles to get clickbait views and to make insane statements.
If they don't like it, they can play another game or ignore it. It's a non-issue.
Salon finds everything to be racist. I often find articles about Salon's constant whining on Breitbart.
If shown Wrong Planet, Salon would be able to write a book on how the green alien on it's logo is somehow racist to made up red aliens.

They live in a desert. A god damn desert. You expect their skin to be pale white? Ridiculous, trash article, just looking for attention. It's a shame, if everything isn't politically correct on the internet then it must be racist.

Wow I failed to notice that pattern and they say people with autism are detailed orientated. Racism never crosses my mind.
But at least the Gorons and the Dekus are good people. They have darker skin color.

I'm glad I'm not marxist. That means I can enjoy fantasy without giving it extraneous meaning. Imagine the thought processes going on in those peoples minds when they're playing games that are supposed to be enjoyable. Games are escapist in nature. They are parallel universes that you can temporary imagine yourself to be in. The last thing I would do is taint those universes with all sorts of conflict spreading theories. It's not supposed to represent real life! It's fantasy! My goodness, I'm glad I'm able to make this distinction so I can shut off my mind and just dream when playing these games.
Those people only ruin it for themselves, not for us. We are capable of enjoying those games.

^ he has the right idea.
i always felt bad about killing the dekus in OOT. they're probably the only talking, sentient "race" in the game that link is capable of actually killing. might be true that the red 'mad scrubs' are a totally different line but i can imagine the business scrubs, the "2,3,1" guys in the deku tree and the little ones in the forest stage saying to each other "you see that jerk in the green cap? he's going to kill the s**t out of you."
thankfully they weren't as scared in MM. their castle was pretty cool even though their king was insane.

I was thinking of the ones in Majora's Mask. I forgot about the bad ones in OOT.

Majora's Mask. Clock Town has an inn run by a Hylian that rented a room to a Goron that share's a Hylians (your) name. Deku scrubs do business inside a Zora band member's room (totally not creepy!), in Clock Town, Ikana and on a miserable mountain where the Gorons live. The Zoras have to share their sea with Gerudos who steal eggs. I think they mingled quite a bit in that game.
Kakariko graveyard in TP was used by Zoras.
still, i think OOT justifies the segregation by having the race's respective realms be for the most part inhospitable to all others, minus the gorons who pretty much live anywhere and have never changed.
and let's not forget the girl in wind waker that gets love letters from a moblin.
but it would still be nice to see those diverse towns in the next zelda.

What baffles me is also how Nintendo keeps becoming the target of such allegations.
Samus Aran was recently also a subject of debate, suggested, or rather, demanded to be transsexual.
I don't see how it matters. Nintendo isn't really concerned with areas pertaining to sexual identity, considering their audience is children and families, so considering that these areas are not explored, it can be pretty open to interpretation anyway. Isn't that good enough? If John Flynt wants Samus Aran to be transsexual, then he is free to imagine that while playing the games. Nowehere in those games is it blatantly suggested for instance that "Samus is NOT a transsexual", and to be honest, that kind of discourse was unheard of in the NES and SNES era anyway as people were not concerned with what was going on in the videogame characters pants. Now that's apparently the most important. Who cares about story, right? The important thing is what goes on in that characters pants, and what they like to do with their genitals. What RACE is that character? Does he discriminate against other RACES. For crying out loud...
This makes it absurd to consider how Nintendo has been a target for marxist discourse.
I wish these people could just enjoy the games, dream themselves away to those wonderful fantasy worlds. None of that discourse is going on there. What's next? Princess peach has a dick? Don't be surprised if they go there. What race is Shy Guy really?
Who cares...
