I think those new hybrid systems are actually just hardware emulators,

BSNES lives on as an emulator core for the RetroArch emulator platform. It's still receiving improvements, and there's even a branch called BSNES Mercury that brings slight performance enhancements without skimping on accuracy.

I remember getting my SNES. It was after major surgery and Dad bought it for me because, and he told me this years later, "you looked so pathetic I just had to get you something". Donkey Kong was the game I got. Later came Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong 2 and 3, Run Saber, Aladdin, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Uniracer, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars...

Ah, memories.

Never once played an actual SNES, but I have played games on an emulator. Just wish I could've experienced the bitwars and the jump from 8-bit to 16-bit consoles as it was happening. I heard that graphics felt a lot more significant back then than they do now.

 I always imagined collecting cartridges would be far more satisfying than collecting any other type of game medium.

I regret not digging my SNES out of storage when I went to visit my grandparents. It's a fun console, and I hope to someday get an Everdrive or another flash cart for it.

Speaking of, has anyone figured out a way to run StarFox 2 on real hardware which doesn't involve sacrificing a donor cartridge? I know the Super UFO 8 does a DSP passthrough, so maybe someone could devise something similar for SuperFX2 games.
