It's about RPGs as the term is now.

What you are thinking of is, nowadays, typically known as "tabletop RPGs".

Yes, I do see the problem here with the main term, by the way. I suspect most wont notice it. Just smile and nod and pretend that it all makes perfect sense... that's what I always do.

Or just do a facepalm, sometimes that helps too.

I would rather roll the dice, order pizza, and interact with people.

The problem with that, for many of us, is that you can't do it without friends or interacting with peoples.

I see that video games, for them, would be the obvious choice.

Technically this actually happens with video games *alot*. Well, not the dice part. But the interaction bit.

....just not RPGs. Usually. Those are usually solo affairs.

I've done it alot with friends over some games. Monster Hunter was the biggest example... we'd get a group of about 6 of us together and do co-op stuff in it for like 3 hours. In a room which was a bit too small, but it worked. There was much laughing involved. And caffiene. Always the caffiene.

Or maybe that last part was just me.

The main advantage though for those of us that cant get a group together IRL is that video games can still be done with friends, with voice chat, online. TECHNICALLY you can also still do tabletop RPGs that way, and some people do, but it's alot harder to set up from what I understand.

I havent done any such games myself. People I know in the area actually are doing tabletop games (D&D I think it is) but I've yet to join them. Their sessions are... just too long... like, 5 PM to 9:30 I think it is. And I've got a 20 minute drive over there which is made worse if I go during what passes for "rush hour" here (not THAT many actual drivers, but they seem more inclined to drive like morons during that time) which seems to be at 4. And I wouldnt be able to show up for every session. I have to be in the right frame of mind to deal with social situations. On a bad day I just cant do it.

Which I imagine would be a bad thing and would disrupt it too much.
