I admit I never tried using Sabin's wrestling moves on the train and always used a Phoenix Down on it.

I love snowboarding in FFVII, and the bike ride too! :)

Isn't there some weird shipyard bit too? Man I need to get playing it again, also some funky river sequence I seem to recall!

^Yep, the Sunken Gelnika is loaded with bizarre enemies. Funky river sequence?

Are you confusing 6 and 7? The person you quoted was referring to 6, but obviously the Sunken Gelnika was a location in 7. Although yes, it was full of weird enemies!

And Yin Yang is a different thing from the safe boss. Actually, I just looked it up and they're bizarrely named Ying and Yang, but yeah -- they're normal encounters in the basement. The safe boss is called Lost Number and I had a LOT of trouble with that boss when I first played the game. If I remember correctly, it swaps between both a physical and a magic form, so confusing it for Ying and Yang is understandable.

I wonder, do you remember the flashback scene where you release a Jenova-mutant in the Nibelheim plant? I always thought that it was weird that the scene wasn't resolved, and I wonder if that was supposed to imply that the mutant wasn't a big deal, just another monster, although I'll admit that it's a stretch to assume that.

I know I said before in another thread that Persona might not be appropriate for you, but I'm not sure now. At the very least you should play Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (or Lucifer's Call as it's known here in the UK). It's like Pokemon but with creatures taken from various religious mythologies and other sources. It's the best Japanese RPG I've ever played!

^Oh, oops.

I usually just have my characters at full Limit Breaks before the battle, and go in swords 'a swinging. :D Opening the actual safe is harder for me [I'm so not good at timed things...]
Yes, I remember that flashback vividly, as it creeped the living daylights out of me. Didn't Sephiroth say that it was a human mutated by Mako in one of Hojo's experiments? The scene kind of ended, as if they just left it there to writhe in agony on the reactor floor. 8O

Hmm. Sounds rather interesting. I'll look into it! :)

I have multiple Final Fantasy moment for me was in the MMORPG of FF14,though never played it was the Moogle opening scene.

https://youtu.be/Iv96K0Q06Jc

0:40 was funny, I do think the Moogles opening scene in that video always had me thinking that after. Although I had a theory that the moogles had enough of Final Fantasy XIII series and what they did with the moogles bulls**t at one point. Though I know the reason of that after being told.

Another one of my favorites was rom FFVIII
was the introduction of Irvine. Plus the dance with Rinoa and Squall. Though I'm more for Edea and Cid. Though I couldn't stand Rinoa.

In Final Fantasy VI, anything scenes involving Kefka. I seriously like this dude a lot. Oh and the octopus Ultros, the battle dialouge in that game with him and in the DLC version in 13-2

Though I raged quit with FF XII. Gilgamesh battle via the Elite Hunt for both times was really fun. Though I like the theme they have used in 13-2 DLC, I prefer a tie with the music for the battles. Gilgamesh special. :3

Has anyone heard of the Squall Is Dead Theory? I find it interesting.

I never heard about that. Could you post a link please? I hope it's not much to ask.

That is very intresting theory reading that. Now I wouldn't understand this when I was a kid when this game came out. But reading this at 25 now. I can definitely see where the theories are with this now, but Square Enix (SquareSoft before the name change) can get slick with being subtle on so many levels.

^Indeed! Of course, there are a lot of ways to disprove it, but I like it better than the whole Time Travel Nonsensical Whatever Continuum.
Hooray for subtlety! I find games that have subtle clues and vaguely hidden references that much more interesting. For instance, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Radiant Historia, and FFVII [naturally] are games that I think about a lot. The only anime/manga series that are similar are [in my opinion]: Claymore, Clamp manga, Studio Ghibli movies, and Clannad.

Oh yes! The time traveling part I seriously would believe especially with what happened at the end of Disc 1. I thought this with the Wild Arms 2 and 3 at one point.

What's Wild Arms 2 and 3?
When Squall got icicle'd, I seriously thought he was dead. I mean, the icicle when right through him! 8O

Also, I thought of something rather interesting. Maybe Zack is sort of a deconstruction of those ridiculous invincible heroes, because all Zack's Jenova cell/MAKO enhancement only made his death that much longer and drawn out. He must have been in so much pain...
Cloud, too, may also be a deconstruction of invincible heroes, especially in Advent Children Complete, since while he may have survived getting impaled multiple times by Sephiroth, all of that nearly killed him, and quite painfully so.
