I prefer to call it the NES. You could have got away with calling it the Nintendo years ago, but I could not, for the life of me, refer to it as the Nintendo Entertainment System if I had to talk about it a lot.

I never knew it even existed until middle school. I just called it the original Nintendo and the SNES the Nintendo. Now I called a NES or the original Nintendo or the very first Nintendo.

Back in the early 90s, it was simply "Nintendo" (and the Master System was simply "Sega"). When the SNES came out, it became the "regular Nintendo", and now the NES
