I don't think most people would consider Oblivion an adventure game. Hack and slash makes up the majority of the game. I can't even think of a single puzzle in the game.

Well if you had Knights of the Nine, it has quite a few puzzles in it. If you don't like the hacking and slashing just switch to a mage or something.

If you don't have any Nintendo consoles then I can't think of an adventure game I've played that I can recommend you.

Good ol' Sam & Max: Hit the Road kicked some a** back in the day, and so do the new games of the franchische. They are "episode games" that are published in - erm - episodes that last a few hours. To promote season 2, the creators gave one of the old episodes, Abe Lincoln Must Die in free distribution. If strange humour and mocking of American politics is your thing, you'll love this piece of art. If it isn't, give it a try anyway!

Yes this is a great game. The episode with the parody of the online game (and text based game at the end) was really cool. Hugh Bliss was funny too.

MapleStory is quite a fun MMORPG, if you're into that kind of thing.

http://nexon.net - click on 'Maplestory' on the right side.

Maple Story is absolute turd, even if you like MMOs, which really can't be considered adventure games either.

Does anyone even know what an adventure game is?

That counts World of Warcraft out of the picture then.

My favorite PS2 adventure games are:

Destroy All Humans 2

God of War 1 & 2

Prince of Persia 2 & 3

Lego Star Wars 2 The Original Trilogy

Shadow of the Colossus (I highly recommend this one)

Sly Cooper and Thievious Racoonus and Sly 2 & 3.

Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction

Ultimate Spider-man

From the list you posted, I concluded you enjoy the quests type of games. So here's my list :

Full Throttle : someone else mentionned this one, but this is a must to have. I'm not sure if you can get it anymore, but the plot is fun and the puzzles both smart and funny.

Police Quest 1 & 3 : This is not set in a fantastic universe, but you might enjoy it too. 1 & 3 were remade in SVGA and are freewares now. It was made by Sierra, and the quality is similar to the Quest For Glory serie.

Syberia 2 : This is a game made here in Quebec (lots of game designers here, such as Ubisoft). I have it in French, but it was probably translated in English. Very nice atmosphere and interesting puzzles. I haven't played Syberia 1, but it might be worth a look too.

Indiana Jones : I don't remember the exact title of the one I played (long time ago), but I used to love this game. One of the best quest I've played. Very fun and challenging.

This is all I can think of for the moment...

You could get ROM's of some old Zelda or Metroid titles.
