I wouldn't get XI at all. I'm not interested in MMORPG's.

MMORPGs are too addictive and repetitive. That, and you can never finish them! They are not finite games, and have no story. Just pointless interaction with others and button-mashing.

The only 'Final Fantasy' I've liked wasn't even a Final Fantasy game. That being Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy, which was the first game of the Mana series with FF name(And chocobos) plastered on it to boost sales in the US.

It was pretty much a toss-up between VIII and XII for me, but I went with XII as the worst because VIII at least had some interesting characters and a good story, despite the horrid hours spent drawing magic. XII had the worst character development of any of the FF games (including the original) and only a fairly decent gameplay experience, with a completely flat storyline that I just could not bring myself to care about.

I played both of those up to the beginning of the final dungeon and couldn't manage to finish either.

well FF10 mostly sucked, except for having the most awesome character ever (auron). Other than him, everything else in the game sucked (although auron kept me around long enough that I got too much exposure to the game, thus artificially lowering its overall score in my mind)

10-2 is just like 10, except auron gets substituted with j-pop, so it just sucks overall with no awesome factor embedded...

12 was so confusing I never actually finished the game...

So its hard to decide, but for all intents and purposes, itll be a tie between 10-2 and 12...

PS: Anyone who hates FF8, haven't you noticed that Squall is an aspie? If some random woman came up to me hitting on me like that, I would probably be so dumbstruck that all I could respond with was a "...whatever".

I'm going with Final Fantasy V. The game was just too generic. You go on a quest to find crystals and defeat a bad guy. Aside from the new job system, there wasn't much else to the game than that. Could've been good if it was maybe the first game in the series, but even the first game had something like time travel to mix things up.

i wouldn't say i openly hate any FF game (minus spin-off titles of course) but there are common things between series that drive me crazy.

- using similar characters (effeminate guy is rivals with another effeminate guy while having dreams about another effeminate guy that may or may not be related to him in some way and falls in love with a girl as effeminate as him)
- using similar stories (something from an ancient civilization is mucking things up with the present day and we have to unite with the earth or something to destroy it)
- the mini-games (Gold Saucer in VII, cards in VIII, Blitz ball in X)
- the cutscenes and summon animations you can't skip

I thought crystal chronicles was pretty stupid, it kind of sucked that you had to keep your characters in the ring of protection throughout the entire game.

And that's why I love it, they're so unapologetic about it.

Picked from ones I have completed...

I'd say X-2.
Not that it was a bad game... but all that j-pop, charlies angels stuff just made me feel unmanly just owning it.

I'm playing FF8 right now, and I'm not liking the deep sea base. I spend a long time fighting through the underground cave, just to get creamed by Ultima Weapon in 30 seconds. I want Eden badly, but not have to go through the boring fights beforehand all the time.

I don't consider X-2 as a Final Fantasy game because Final Fantasy is not mindless pretty-princess-dress-up-party. Hmph.

That said, I'd go with X. It was an alright fantasy game, but not a good Final Fantasy. It was linear, frustrating, and ultimately anti-climactic in every way. The characters were the same basic archetypes as every other FF, yet somehow failed on every level.
