Come to me, ye "hard-core" players.
I'm a rather avid gamer to say the least.
I've been ordering Nintendo Power Magazine since before I was 5 years old.
I've owned every nintendo system since the SNES, and that includes every gameboy; from the original, to color, to SP to the DS. I bought the N64 right when it came out and I own several dozen N64 games, at least 100. I'm pretty sure I've beaten at least half.
I own a boatload of Gamecube games as well, around 50. I have everything from Luigi's Mansion, to Tales of Symphonia, to Super Monkey Ball.
For Wii, I have Trauma Center, Twilight Princess, and several others. I don't have too much of an extensive collection there, but the games I do have I play often and pretty well.
I got a PS2 a couple years back and @ first I just played DDR, but then I went out and rented a ton of games and I beat them, but did not buy most of them. I'm getting better at Guitar Hero now, but I'm always on the lookout for good RPGs if anyone cares to recommend some.
I don't know if that qualifies me as "hardcore" or not, but whatever.
(:
I think I'm a hard core gamer although I've never been so much of a junkie to stay in a line untill midnight for a new release, but I'm pretty much open to any video game genre except for sports gemes( and even then sometimes I might rent one for the heck of it) I remember times waiting impatiently to buy a brand new game, where all the reviews and shows swears that it will take your more than 40+ hours to beat, rushing home playing it till 3:00 in the morning for two to three days and beating it with a time log of around 20 hours.

I think the PC is the ultimate device for gaming. I can remember playing consoles has a child and dreaming of one day owning a PC.
Nowadays not only do I play games I build my PC's and I've overclock the hell out of em. ^^ Been playing GOW on my PC at 1680x1050 everything maxed and with directX 10 enabled. Man it still runs insanely smooth. I live for PC gaming god knows what I'd do without it.
For me, 40 hours always turn out to be 60 hours. Unless it's a crappy game.
Anyone else dream (as in "REM-sleep") of playing?

"Everyone loves the dolphin. A bitter shark - emerging from it's cold depths - doesn't stand a chance." This is hyperbol.
"Run, Jump, Fall, Limp off, Try Harder."
Sure I dead dream of playing. I generally dream like that when the game has a clifhanger ending, I love my mind how it gives me the stories I want to see. Today I think I napped for 5 hours just to dream. And I had the most beutiful dreams ever.
If i remember correctly I once dreamed of another bonus ending for shin megami tensei nocturne, and an extension of different endings.
The thing is though I generally forget to write down my dreams and forget them after 10 minutes.
I'm sure I'm not a "casual" gamer, but I don't think I'm qualified for being a "hardcore" gamer.
My favorite genre is RPGs, but I really enjoy, except for sports genres, playing other genres too (dancing, fighting, racing, fps, adventure, platform, . . .). I like to search and memorize info about games (history, creators, developing, companies, trivial facts, etc.). I played a lot of videogames and invested a lot of time of my childhood and adolescence. Maybe I haven't played a lot of games as hadcore gamers, because I can't afford all the videogame consoles and every game I want, but when I play a new game I learn fast, kinda intuitive.
I remember every game I played with details, but I'm too lazy for writing about every game I've cleared, my biggests records and other things, I must say my general videogame skills, are good, I think. I know I can improve a lot in some areas. At this moment, my average time invested in playing videogames is two hours per day (without counting invested time in videogames investigations), it's really low. If I had more time, I'm sure I spend more times with videogames.

I am a gamer. It is who I am. It is what I am. The only type of game I don't play is FPS games, and that's because of a strange sort of vertigo that I get with the first person view. My primary game type lately is MMORPGs with a strong background in fighting games, Japanese RPGs, action/adventure games, puzzle games (Dr. Mario is like pixelated poetry to me) and strategy games. When I was 9 years old, my mastery began when I played through both adventures of The Legend of Zelda in one sitting without getting hit by anything that did damage. Since then I have gone on a merciless rampage through every good game I've played and become an expert in playing each game. I have spent about half of every day for the last 20 years playing games. When I'm not playing games I'm thinking about them. When I close my eyes I watch them. I have many other interests, but I relate all of them to gaming. When I exercise, I am leveling up my stamina or strength; and when I sleep I'm reducing my fatigue score.
I am the one who finds all the secrets.
I am the one who plays on super hard mode.
I am the one who finishes every side quest and collects every item.
I AM GAMER!
now if only that meant something...
