I was just wondering, what are you going to be about playing MGS4? Or are you going to skip that one?

The PS3 is a low priority for me ATM. If I get a next-gen console, it will be the Wii. Then, I might get the PS3, but my enthusiams for it will increase significantly if Sony re-implements backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games.

Yep - Me too.

Products which aren't backward compatible are not compatible with me.

BTW: Can anyone who got a PS3 before Sony shat on it tell me if it was possible to SAVE in PS1 and PS2 Games? (You can't Save PS1 games on the PS2 - as far as I can tell).

You can save PS1 games on the PS2, but you need to use a PS1 memory card to hold the save data. The PS1 saves can be transferred onto the PS2 memory cards, but PS1 games won't be able to read them unless they're on a PS1 card.

Another thing you may not be aware of is that you can activate texture filtering and fast loading for PS1 games on a PS2 console by pressing triangle at the PS2 boot menu twice. This doesn't work with all games though. Metal Gear Solid for example has flickering textures whenever you turn on texture filtering.

Texture filtering works, but whenever I tried fast loading in the past, it froze.

Quatermass,

Sorry to hijack your thread a little... You're in Oz, any idea where you can get a PS1 save game card for the PS2 and what they cost?

Have you tried Revolution CD? My local store has quite a few. Official PS1 memory cards are about up to $20 each at most. Most are below $10.

Bit of advice for you- ditch the Wii. The only good games are olympic-style games or DBZ ones.

Not for Sonic fans.

I assure you the playablity won't be the best. The Wii Control sucks.

Maybe I'm just uncoordinated.

I can understand why SEGA fans would feel a little lost nowadays after the demise of the Dreamcast.

Master System II.

Mega Drive to a degree.

Still you get people who claim there hasn't been a good console since the Dreamcast.

Anyway, back on topic, what are you going to review next QM?

May I suggest that when you get a new game and complete it, you could review it?

That won't be until mid to late-April, when I do Twilight Princess.
