I've played it, and got to the second island. At the moment, it's the most solid GTA game I've played. The city feels so real, and the draw distance is great. I also like how you can make friends with people, and call them for non-story procedural missions and their 'special abilities', such as selling you cheap weapons or giving you a free taxi ride.

I'm still having problems playing multiplayer, though. Sometimes I cannot connect to the game server, and when I do join a game, I get a 'lost connection to one or more players' error. Maybe a server overload problem.

I kinda want to buy a 360 just for this game but I feel like it'd be a waste. :/

No need to buy a 360 for just GTA4 buy one because it has better games than the PS3 and Wii combined.

I'm sorry, but I won't get it. It looks good, but the story looks too realistic for me to play it, due to the violence against ANYBODY.

I like it.

I wouldn't have given it the "10 out of 10" and "Perfect!" reviews it managed to get everywhere, but I like it.
The graphics update is great, but objects still often don't materialize until you're in front of them. There are also a lot of mini-freezes and such.
The physics are amazing and A/I is very good, I love being able to knock groceries out of someone's hands, then throw their can of soup at them...then have them attack me, run around the corner so the cops see them doing so, and get them arrested/shot.

However the cops are much more aggressive and a bit harder to evade, and the random civilians/motorists don't seem to mind running you down or beating the piss out of you for no reason. The hand to hand fighting mechanic is buggy, and pretty much every vehicle in the game handles like a yacht with three wheels.

Still, the sheer depth of this thing makes up for it...any given minigame itself isn't that great, but the amount of them is awesome. The TV shows you can watch, websites you can visit, and overall interactivity with the world around you is definitely what next-gen gaming should be giving us. The story, as far as I am in it, has been pretty good too.

Plus, it's been a true joy working in a game store and having an endless parade of parents throw a hissy because their precious snowflakes banged a hooker or knifed a policeman. We've taken a lot of returns on it because it was 'so bad'. I can thusly mark these people as 'morons' and only sell them those Burger King kid's meal games from now on.

 Seriously... If they had no idea what they were getting they shouldn't have even bought it in the first place. Ignorance is no excuse. Info about the GTA series content is everywhere, from fans raving about it, to Jack Thompson bashing it.
Certainly game stores have been sticking to their guns with this. When I got mine, I got carded... twice! Once to get in and once to pick it up. I don't think I saw anyone who looked under 20 getting the game the night I did.

There is something that I can't figure out about the game so far...
So the XBOX 360 version is going to have downloadable content...
So why can't the PS3 version also have DC? It's not like it isn't possible. I've seen extra content for other games in the PSN shop.

I believe Microsoft paid Rockstar North 50 million dollars to have exclusive rights to the DLC.

Well that sucks, period. What a stupid thing for them to do.

The D/L content is supposedly going to be entirely new cities you can fly to, such as Vice City and San Andreas...so I think that's pretty neat.
Also, in terms of it making sense - the D/L content is a big reason why the 360 edition is outselling the PS3 edition, so I really can't fault Microsoft for doing it.

There are rumours that the PS3 will some day have downloadable content, but it's yet to be confirmed so far as I know.

But yeah, my store is carding everyone...if you look 10 or 80. They'll fine us, fire not only the person responsible but me and my boss too if we don't stick to this. I am VERY against all forms of censorship, but it's not worth my job.
