Nes games were made in an area where video game arcades were much more popular. And if a player wins in a video game arcade it's not beneficial for the owner. So the games were purposedly made hard so that you would spend much more money on credits.

Those games might be considerably harder because of their simplicity, they were long because they were cheaper to make.Right now you need about 100-500 people to make a decent video game, back then 1-4 people could make them.

I actually find the newer games harder. Specifically the ones on the Game Cube that use both analog sticks. (I find Wii to be pretty easy though, probably because I'm an athlete by nature and get more out of a game I can actually put myself in physically).

I like the + control pad and lack of buttons, but maybe it's because I'm older and grew up with them?

I remember NES games to have been nearly impossible when I was a kid, then going back to them after all these years and having very few problems with them. I say very few problems because going from the ergonomicly designed PS2 controller back to the horrible gray rectangle of the NES gives my hands cramps just to think about it. I think the difficulty of the games has been lessened by 20yrs of video game experience ranging from Super Mario Brothers, to Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, to Duke 3D, all the way through Starcraft, WoW, and the Armored Core series.

I never completed alot of games on the ness but i never realy cared, i remember playing soccer on the ness and actualy scoring in the wrong goal, and wonder why i was losing. like in the game battletoads i only ever got up to the part where you go down the volcano but i found it fun anyway. i have tried to go back and play the ness but it has a problem keeping up a charge and keeps flashing.also i agree that the ness controlls are realy different. one skill i have is very good stamina with game controls, except pc games, in them im terrible. a difference with todays games is that everyone wants to complete games one thing thats been added has been difficulty settings to make some games more chalenging.

That's weird, the exact opposite happened to me :x

I have no idea how we ever beat some of those game without emulation's rewind buttons and save states.
