Mystical Ninja on the N64. You can find more obscure games, of course, but this one just hit me as being in my top games list, which is still unorganized.

Obscure? Not really, Castlevania is about as far from obscure as you can get. They release a new game for the series about as often as EA releases a Madden game.

Off the top of my head I can think of:

Mission Impossible - N64

Iggy's Recking Balls - N64

Zombies ate my Neighbors - Genesis

Cosmic Spacehead - Genesis

SRW Gaiden, Masou Kishin: Lord of the Elemental SNES
Definitely one of the more obscure SRW games. I actually think it's a great SRW game. Shame not too many fans have actually played it though. You do at least need a story translation to experience it properly. The game serves an interesting purpose as bookending the SRW game timelines. (Might be debatable with the OG universe though)

Dunno if I'd call it obscure, it was a pretty big hit at the time, though it may have been overshadowed just a tiny bit by competitor Donkey Kong Country. Great game, though, I found a couple of ex-rental copies of it at Goodwill =)

Passed up the sequel, though =/ I was probably low on cash at the time, that's the only excuse I can think of.

MDK-It has its fans, and did well enough to get a sequel (Which was great too BTW), but it never got the love it deserved. Had great gameplay, fun weapons (The world's most interesting bomb FTW!), and was very funny.

MDK was absolutely incredible! Damn, I'd almost forgotten about it... *digs around in pile of old games for copy*

Tokyo Bus Guide for the Dreamcast was surprisingly addictive-

When does the shooting come in?
I don't know about me, I remember trying to play some ps1 games like the misadventures of tron bonne, or monster rancher2. those were some games I enjoyed, yet they were a lot different to my other games like crash bandicoot.
I kind of wish that they could make some more modern games like that, they were so cool and introduced me to anime befor I was interested in it. I realised a bit back that the servbots from the misadventures of tron bon actualy appeard in the toy stores in Dead riseing.

God Hand for PS2. Critically Acclaimed, but it didn't sell so well. It's actually a hard game, but it's also fair. I've never felt cheated when I die, and you can always just continue.

If this alone does not sell you on how utterly awesome this game is, then you have no soul.

Just bought a semi-obscure game today ;) Light Crusader for Genesis...sort of like Zelda meets Mario RPG, by Treasure. Apparently it didn't do so well when it came out, but I tried it on an emu and it seems pretty cool.

Holy crap, I have to try this. It's like the sequel Desert Bus never had 8O

There's not too much Japanese to have to navigate around, is there?

Also, if there are any other DC games I need to check out, lemme know ;)

My favorite "obscure" game is Killer 7. The only shooter game I actually liked (it was done by Suda51, the same guy who made No More Heroes). I still have nightmares thanks to the heaven smiles. 8O

Frequency and Amplitude. two rhythm-and-beat games made by Harmonix before they hit the big time with Guitar Hero and Rock Band. supposedly the games were so addictive they limited their release, and i believe it.

also i dunno if it's obscure, but the Soul Blazer trilogy on the SNES (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma). Illusion of Gaia's probably my favorite. Terranigma probably counts as obscure because it was never released in the US.

My favorite obscure game is Michael Jordan's Chaos In The Windy City. It was cool how he had all these different basketballs he could use as weapons like the fireball, an iceball, and a golden glittering basketball that multiplies and features heat seeking abilities.
