If any of you would like to play chess with me on Yahoo! Games tonight (Friday) or tomorrow (Saturday), feel free to send me an IM. I should be available, as I finished most of my weekend errands earlier today.

Hmmm. I think I would play with someone like that *once*. To have a board thrown at me would be traumatic enough that I would refuse to do it again! :-o

Seriously, sore losers aren't any fun. The point of the game is to develop skill and to explore the other person's mind.

I like chess a lot. My dad taught me how to play it and I won our first game. I got the hang of it right away. It's the logical and linear thinking, I guess.

I credit chess for getting me through high school, those very difficult years. Playing chess was one thing I could do well without having to talk or play a physical sport. I think chess is a wonderful game for us aspies.

*digs up topic* Anyone got any good tips or pointers to play better? I've played 3 times and lost... (I'm either too busy concentrating on their pieces or too busy concentrating on mine to realise they're going to collide), However, I enjoyed playing and now must conquer the person I was playing against.. lol, but yes, if anyone has any good things that helps them please let me know!

My father taught me how to play when I was 8 or so-I was beating him regularly by age 10. Not only was I the only female on the chess team in High school but I was the captain. My play has been touch and go for the better part of five years but when I do play its as if theres been no lapse, sort of like riding a bike I suppose. I miss having someone to play with. Im open to some play to shake the cobwebs off. I am definitely more of a late night player sort

I was on the chess club in high school but I still suck at it. Speaking of that club it was really weird because half the team was the "jock" crowd... we had the motto "if you beat us on the board well beat you in the street" well until the teacher turned it down.

Hello,

Just wanted to know if anybody here like to play or talk about chess...

Yes !
I love this game (does good to the mind) ! !

Although I am not a trained player, or not a real expert, I really at times crave for a good game ...

PS: What I dislike in people is that sometimes they claim to be real experts, and extra strong, so hoping to bet me they beg I play with them. Suprise surprise, me being somewhat mediocre actually beat those "pretended" experts, (one of them, my nephew, whom could not bear to lose against me 3 years in a row...)...

So... I've sorta been in the mood for a chess game lately, anybody else want to? My only experience is playing casually on Yahoo and GameKnot and a little bit with the family, I'd say I'm probably slightly above beginner level, but its been a while...

Who would be up for a game sometime in the next few days?

I learned chess at around seven or eight too, though I generally tend to suck. There's a chess club at school I've gone to once and will again if I'm waiting to do an Open Mic performance and they're around. Geek power! I wanna get better (at chess, I meant, but at open mic too).

I'm not usually online regularly enough to justify playing chess online, though.

I enjoy the game, even though I always lose. I am too aggressive when I play and lose key pieces quickly.
