got it today...finished it today.
the story was better than the first i thought.still short though. havent played online yet.

i think a lot of people are confusing good voice acting for good story.

the voice acting in the game is pure gold. they really do a great job...but the story is mostly crap. the maria thing was fairly predictable.

there's also too many "i have no clue what's going on" moments. i'm near the end now and there was a scene that i thought was a cut scene leading to a paused starting off point and so me and my buddy stepped away to grab some beers...i took my controller with me and it kept shaking. i went back to check and we'd gone through half the level already without even playing.

the fights aren't interesting enough. the little battle with skorge wasn't interesting and felt more like a shooting gallery than an FPS style game.

When I first heard that part I cracked up laughing, I knew straight away this is going to be something to remember, I actualy had it as my sig on here a while back.

it is about on the same level as "giant enemy crab".

for those who need to know about the giant enemy crab:

I thought the game was decent. I did not experience the problem with the camera after falling off the cliff. I'm player 2 in co-op, so I'm controlling the gun and light and haven't had any trouble killing the enemies there.

was there an "update" available that you downloaded before reaching that point in the game?

i'm guessing they pushed a fix for that section and since my buddy's 360 isn't hooked up to the net, he didn't get that update and got to see all the bugs in the game.

there was another really crappy co-op part where you and the teammate have to carry a large item to a spot and the controls are shoddy, the user cannot place the item down to clear a room then get back to carrying, and did i mention the controls sucked? if so, then i didn't enough.

After completing the whole game on Casual, me and my brother are soon going to work our way up the difficulty settings trying to get a higher gamerscore and stuff...

I've played through that level, is it the one at the research place with Niles and the security system? That bit got fairly tiring, having to carry the bomb all the way to the doors was just... arrgh! Why!?

I do belive it was overhyped to some point, the story mode was somewhat short, and for me, the online play wasn't that good, and I'm not into that stuff... Also, GoW2 would cost you like... £30... where as Halo would cost, if you could get it at a decent price £20, and for one thing, the Halo 3 Campaign is nowhere near as good as the one on GoW, but to be honest, Halo 3 will get you alot more gameplay, for less...

The Horde mode is good, and a cool new addition, though I felt it would get a bit pointless, I only bother doing things if I'm likely to complete them, I don't like getting half way through a game and then not being able to finish it... So, Horde, on the medium difficulty, I'd get to like level 20-30, I'd guess... so I wouldn't really enjoy that much.

There were a few floors that needed polishing, and the fact that hardly any of the world is easy to get around in, for example, you can't jump, you have to put you're back to something, and jump on?? What on earth! This actually annoyed me during the last few checkpoints in the Locust thingy with that freaky intercom system... you had to get back to the vehicle(Can't remember what it was called...) avoiding Razorhail. To be honest, this was OK, it's just that you had to run between shelter into little train carriges, and at one point, I ran up to it, shuffled left for a moment, shuffled right, paused, and died, because I had to put my back to the carridge, I couldn't get inside, Do they not teach the COG's how to jump?...

Also, not much of the world was destroyable, and I became very, very annoyed at lots of points, for example, I would spend five minutes wondering around the level, randomly looking for where to go(This happened in the lair of the Locust Queen), this would have taken even longer if I had not have had another person playing. This is why the Dead Space-Show-you-where-to-go line would have been helpful, those parts just really got on my nerves..

As for the storyline... It was fairly cheesy, and a little predictable, I could already tell, due to the fact that there aren't many 'happy' moments in Gears, that Maria would obviously die or turn to a locust.. also, I found that the moments where, for example you had to make bridges across things, you'd press Y(A handy thing to use when you don't know what to do) and all of a sudden look up and think "Oh, there's a car that would have been perched on a cliff for no other reason that to fall and bridge across in the exact circular motion that it would land as a bridge...

That's all I have to say about it...

Oh, does anybody fancy an Aspie meet up on Xbox Live on GoW 2 to see how far we can get while playing Horde?

I don't have my XBox connected to the net either. Only updates I have are the ones that come on the CDs (ie - if a game requires an update, it has the update on the CD).
